If it's true (though unconfirmed) that Zarqawi's own turned on him...that is telling and hopeful! Great, Great, Great NEWS! I wish we could have all the details now! This is what I've been talking about when I said we need to turn the intensity up and go for the throat!
Either way, killing Al-Zarqawi is very good news. There may be an initial surge in violence by Sunni insurgents in reaction to his death, so it may be some time before things improve. He seems to be such a key figure it's very likely to improve things. On the contrary side, his death won't make things worse, but it could prove to us the resistance in Iraq is not very dependent on specific individuals. This would be disheartening but is something we need to know. This is great news to wake up to this morning.
I doubt that this will impact the situation in Iraq much. It might boost morale and it's definitely a PR victory for the Bush administration, but they were the ones who initially transformed Zarqawi into some type of all-star international terrorist when at best he operated regionally. Plus, al-Qaeda had no real presence in Iraq before this illegal invasion and occupation. The insurgency is indigeneous and violence might intensify as a result of this in order to show that resistance to the occupation is coming from within. Either way I don't think the killing of a man with one leg is going to really change things: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060608/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq
wow thats pretty low...i guess thats what people resort too when they don't really have anything to say
I was waiting for someone to back ignorance with ignorance...btw nothing political. Talking about way to go, I can't help but feel a sense of gladness for the majority of Iraqi people who are doing something to improve their lives from once was Saddam's terror of the past to Zarqawi's terror of what once was the present...The officials, the policemen, the doctors, and all those who want to build an Iraq they feel good about...Somewhere in heaven, the Iraqi supercop who put 260 insurgents behind bars is smiling. There are some real hero's in Iraq. They are the ones who will make a differance long term...
I agree with this. I do not see how killing one man is going to make a huge difference. My thoughts are that someone else will step up in his place. I just wish our boys would come home. I do not see how we can win this fight.
SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil fell nearly 2 percent to below $70 for the first time in two weeks on Thursday after the death of al Qaeda'a leader in Iraq, where crude exports have been curbed by frequent sabotage attacks and instability. Say what you want about the war, I'm running down to Exxon to get me some gas!
