The road to said freedoms (for EVERYONE) was cratered from the start. We are supposed to be learning from our mistakes, not repeating them.
Criticizing a soldier for defending our country is one thing. Criticizing a soldier for jamming a broomstick up a POW's ass is another.
You people crack me up. The same people who were whining that GWB's people could have stopped 9-11 and didn't do anything about it are compaining that his tactics in trying to prevent ANOTHER 9-11 are horrific. Pick a side please.
LOL, you forgot the patented NJ Rocket temporal distortion justification for torture, ("the torture that occurred in 2003 was justified by the incidents in 2004!" http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77281&perpage=30&pagenumber=3) This model works both ways, you can actually use it to prevent Iraqi's with no affiliation with Al Qaeda from launching past and future attacks on the US that did not occur or already occurred or already did not occur but might have done so anyway. What is actually stupid here, and may be even stupider than this guy's silly one liners, is that you guys keep humoring him by responding in a serious way. Quit twisting the broomstick and he'll go away.
How would you like me to take it? Sounds like you've got something in mind. Are you threatening to tattle to the mods like TJ? Or to get the thread locked with weirdo chest thumping like bama? Or to bust me to Ashcroft for agreeing with his boss Bush? Or to kick my ass or rather shove a light stick up it like the guys you're applauding? (Please remember, I'm white.) You were the one that compared ass rape to sending your kids to their rooms. Forgive me for turning it around and exposing the wrongheadedness of your analogy. And I'll forgive you for not reading any of the reports and choosing instead to defend the actions of psychosexual sado-homo war criminals, when not one single public figure (R or D) agrees with you and in fact thinks that position is sick as hell.
This conflict reminds me more of Vietnam every day. "Pick a side please." You talk like your "side" is one side and those who disagree with you are another. Do you really believe that? Your views on this topic represent a tiny percentage of this country. There is great disagreement about the necessity for being in Iraq in the first place and disagreement about how this conflict, since we are in it courtesy of Bush, is being fought. There are few people who feel like you and bama do about this scandal. Your "side" isn't a "side", it's a pigeonhole in a tiny part of a small corner of American society. Does it ever get lonely there?
Duly noted. Just seems impossible that some can be so myopic in regards to their political affiliation. Some Republicans are as bad as the Clintonistas were. It's pitiful, really. I've been voting Republican since I became a voter. Felt like Clinton being impeached but not tossed from office hurt the country (among other things). Now it's Bush's turn. I'm against anyone who doesn't have the country's best interest in mind. I'll leave it be from here on out because those who don't care about truth cannot stand to hear it.
Exactly, Deckard. The people who apparently crack NJ up constitute at least 95% of this country in this instance. Thankfully the vast majority of the country is mentally balanced enough to call a sadist a sadist, even while a few cranks still consider ass rape to be an act of patriotism.
You are lambasting things like values, fairness, and tolerance, and claim that BJ should be the one to leave the country? I know for a fact that Marine training includes classes in history and such. Is that a new addition or did they have such classes when you served? Perhaps you need a U.S. history and civics refresher.
bama, I hate using ignore. I've never done it before you and haven't since, but I did it for a reason. No matter what I post here, no matter what anyone who disagrees with you posts here, regardless of both public opinion and conventional wisdom being on my/our side (as it CLEARLY is in this case), you will come back with your seriously weird, unquestionably sophomoric insults. And, of course, you'll call me (and us) socialists and appeasers and worse. Angry's my favorite since you're clearly the angriest dude that's ever posted here. Believe me, I know. I lurked here for well over a year before registering. You take the cake, far and away. And then, after characterizing anyone to the left of you as a socialist (even while 99% of the country is to the left of you), you'll start in with all the 'you're a p***y,' 'couldn't tell your ass from a hole in the ground,' playground style, scatalogically obsessed, put downs. Since I put you on ignore, you've called me out on half the posts I've made with the same violently angry hoohah. What exactly is your obsession with me? Think you might have a crush?
Yeah, maybe a Charles Busch play. I couldn't be any more for gay rights if I tried, but I'm straight and I don't get all that drag humor. It might find an audience with the tiny minority of Americans who think ass rapists are heroes. Not me though. Make mine Beckett.
Untrue. I supported the war and still do. But I don't condone forgetting about basic human rights to achieve our means. There would be nothing worthwhile left to protect it we sink that low.
I'm sorry to keep quoting him and exposing you to what you mean to ignore. I won't do it anymore if would rather. Just some of things that Bamma posts are so contradictory to the declared intentions(being American, the left being hateful, the left not knowing the facts at hand etc.) that I can't help but make some comment on it. But I will refrain from it since you are trying to move on from that kind of discussion with him.
Thank you GV. Is it so hard to understand the difference? I support the 999 out of 1000 soldiers who fight and win like Americans. I want the other 1 in a 1000 to be prosecuted.
As such, you (and Bush and his people) get to continue saying this war has anything to do with liberating Iraq with a straight face. Those ones who defend and applaud these actions should never say that stuff again. Their new justification for the war (having given up WMD's, Al Qaeda and liberation) is apparently that we have to kill them before they kill us -- obviously leaving out the fact that if we hadn't gone in there in the first place they would have had no way of killing us. I'll seriously listen to the other side when the other side doesn't applaud torture, rape and murder. I'll seriously listen to anything from you or mrpaige or MadMax or basso and consider it seriously. The rest of these guys really do make me want to move to Europe.
How can you prosecute someone who possibly was/is only doing what they were told to do? From all the interviews I've seen so far, all of the people who know these people accused say they don't believe that they could be capable of such acts?
