Exactly. It is Wemby that makes it run. Put Wemby on the Rockets (wouldnt have Jabari), and Rockets would look like one of the leagues young hot teams. Wemby gives everyone on the Spurs extra confidence.
Nets pick would be bad if they didnt have their pick and that would be all thats left. At least now we have 2027 and 2029 picks and swaps, and with the rules the way they are now those picks and swaps just got better.
Let Stone, Ime, FVV, KD, DFS, and Adams be all they can be this year and wait for those Net / PHX picks to hit next year. Hopefully this year is so bad Tillman / Patrick get off Stone/Ime train or at least reroute it When season ended I wanted to trade the Phx pick to try to make a competitive roster but now I think it’s just wait for those 27’ picks and not to burn assets at this time. Hopefully we land a PG & SG in next years draft. Maybe stretch 5 like Diane. Would be nice to trade into early teens for Philon this year but I know we won’t. After this year I’d trade everybody but Amen, Jabari, and maybe Reed if he gets his **** together By the time KD leaves in 28’ Amen & Jabari would still be 25/26yrs old. We could be back on track with Amen, Jabari, Reed?, Nets 27’, Phx 27, our own 28’, lots of cap space and the Dal / Phx 29’s to follow. Spurs will be a few years older but we’d be younger with depth. I think if we take a step back for a year or two we could be back to competing
Yep... They can run it back next year no problem, but then they run into issues... Fox at 31% of cap.. Wemby at 30% of cap, Vassell at 25MM+ so they will start losing their depth in 2027/28... maybe they go deep into luxury tax to chase a 3-peat ... but then in 28/29 they have to pay Castle and Harper as well... they will be in the second apron on 4 players... OKC starts having those problems this offseason because of the Chet/J-Dub extensions. The second apron rules make it tough to keep reloading. Look at Boston... look at how Cleveland gutted their depth these past two years. Watch was happens to NYC this offseason... look at the issues the Bucks had putting a team around Giannis...and the Nuggets around Jokic.. the second apron rules suck... but they are here through 28/29. OKC and SAS will struggle to keep a "dynasty" together... and for each team, it just takes an injury to their star to make them beatable... Wemby has an injury history... J-Dub and Chet are injury prone... The Rockets just need to be smart... and get some luck on a trade or two...
So you are saying the Rockets would not have picked Wemby? I don't understand your point. In the NBA, the team with the best player that is playing at their peak usually wins (or at least is a contender). Right now, the Spurs have that player. OKC has that player. Why is that hard to understand?
The Rockets deserve criticism ...mostly for not addressing the PG situation in season. As it pertains to the Lakers, if the Rockets didn't loose FVV, Adams, and Durant, they win that series. It's sports, sometimes ish happens. OKC just lost ...probably because they were missing 2 starters yet the Spurs were at full strength in game 7. Ish happens. You are basic if you just look at the final score and draw your conclusions.
nah. If your draft picks don’t work you trade them and build a real contender. Morey didn’t give the draft a chance and traded picks for stars. We gave it a try, our teams have been good but not enough. Time to move some pieces.
If the Rockets had gotten lucky and gotten the number one overall in 2023 instead of the 4th, we'd be the ones going to the Finals right now. Let's be real. They also got lucky with Dylan Harper, but even Jalen Green would probably look way better playing on the court with Wenbanyama. They got lucky. We didn't. That's it.
1. Charlotte is definitely not trading Miller. You can convince me that Chicago would do that, but that wouldn't make us better. 2. Those moves might get us into the 2026 first round. But they're not going to get us one of the guys that could change this franchise. None of this is getting us past the Spurs or OKC, and some of it would arguably set us back.
We can't do anything about SA (Wemby probably isnt going to stay healthy) or OKC, but we can take care of business at home. And, that ISN'T happening.
Guess Rockets fans didn't shut up and listen to drunk Mardi Gras Tilman when he told them to Pray for Victor.
I wonder if Spurs accepted Durant, would Durant have sabotaged the Spurs at least in the Postseason? If they gave up Keldon, Champagnie and Vassell, they are likely not making it this far.....
While I've lost confidence in Ime as a coach and I wish TF would bring in a seasoned basketball guy to run Basketball Operations as Stone's boss, I don't believe we're absolutely cooked. Luck definitely played a role in our Drafts, BBall Gods penalized us for Ralph and Hakeem. I'm not giving up on any of our young guys yet. What's clear from watching the OKC/SAS series is we need more talent and a deeper rotation of real contributors. If the hypothesis is correct that we won't make any big moves, then we have to improve our bench with some difference makers. We know Ime loves him some FVV and Adams, so they aren't likely going anywhere. I highly doubt they trade KD, Sengun, Amen, Bari or Reed. That leaves Tari as a sign-n-trade candidate. The problem is the three teams that are rumored to have the most interest in Eason are Nets, Lakers and Bulls. All of these teams will likely have real cap space (above $40M) and can just hand out an offer sheet that could be a tough contract for us to swallow. Do we really want to spend $85M-$100M on Tari? Ideally, I'd love to trade him for a 2026 1st and a young player, but with the draft starting on 23 Jun and trades not processing until 6 Jul, Stone would need to find a team willing to agree beforehand on a contract/compensation (which can be done). How Stone handles Eason's situation may become our most impactful offseason transaction (which would personally be disappointing). Off our bench DFS is likely not going to bring anything of value and may even cost to send out. We likely keep him with the hope he can be more impactful with a full off-season to recover and train. Of the remaining guys Josh Okogie and Jeff Green are the only other guys I'd entertain retaining. The rest of the guys can go for upgrades hopefully. While we don't have a Wemby or SGA, if we can improve our depth and our young guys continue to improve anything can happen next season. Indy went from the finals to a lottery team the next year. While we all wish our situation was better, it's not as dire as some of you think.
IF’s and buts. Ime is still the coach and bozo the clown is the GM so even if they did have Wemby probably still wouldn’t make it out the west. Fact is the spurs have Wemby and okc has SGA. Both have great coaches and front offices. Might as well fast forward to next summer to see the two again in the WCF. Everyone else in the west thanks for playing.
