Just for those of you who don't really understand how journalism works, the writer does not choose the headline. That is done by an editor. The writer doesn't even suggest a headline. They just write the stories and hand them in. How they are titled, what photos go with them and the complete content of the story is determined by a copy editor and the editor of that department. So, give the writer a break when it comes to the headline. It's not his fault.
