I know the hood isn't in that movie where Gene Hackman was the coach. You don't need a Tupac soundtrack to figure that out.
Above the Rim is one of my all time favorite movies. I watch it all the time on DVD. It is a really great movie, although Wayans can get really annoying in certain parts. I love how dated the clothing styles worn in that movie are.
So are you saying that movie is not the hood, so you know what the hood is? You've got to explain to me, because I don't know. I live in the suburbs and I have two parents who really love me. Everything I learned about hood, I got off of Yo! MTV raps. You just got to face it, you're more of The Hills than 106 and Park.
And why is that important? A good basketball movie is a good basketball movie, and Hoosiers isn't just good, Hoosiers is great!
not sure if you are familiar with Mexican girls in Houston from the 90s but I was looking at old photos of my friend and I saw a photo of her cousin with bog time jersey mall hair. The clothes and hair... Yikes
Basketball movies begin and end with... oh yes and Juwanna Mann and who can forget the absolute greatest basketball movie of them all..*drumroll*... but seriously... Above the Rim hands down.
C'mon, now... two pages and no one has asked THE OBVIOUS?!?!? Black? Any movie where a WHITE dude is dunking over a black dude is TOPS in my list.
This is honestly the greatest basketball movies ever. Hell its one of the best movies I've ever seen period. I've only cried at the end of 2 movies. Rebound and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. If you guys haven't seen Rebound you definitely gotta check it out!
Wrong again. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UOuI0rXrOmA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UOuI0rXrOmA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I'm surprised no one mentioned Blue Chips (sarcasm). I prefer He Got Game over Above the Rim because of the authenticity of the basketball play. Props to Yoyo for Hoop Dreams. I'd like to add The Heart of the Game, which is about girl's high school basketball, but thoroughly entertaining.
Above the Rim was horrible I'm surprised to see so many people liked it. I rented it about a year back not really knowing anything about it and I remember laughing out loud at some parts due to how horrible it was...like the dude playing fake basketball and mimicking the game that hilariously killed his friend, who was named Ballso, or something. I had no idea so many people considered it a classic. He Got Game for all its faults was a legit movie..
So if I made a poll between Boyz II Men and New Edition, would you be mad I didn't include the Jonas Brothers?
I chose not to include it in the poll. it's between these two. If I had a poll between Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, would people be mad I didn't include John Cougar Mellencamp?
He Got Game, by far, but there's no disrespect in mentioning Hoosiers. That was a freaking great movie.
