Remember when the Mavs were going to change their unis, they released the Logo a whole year ahead of time? They put it on their practice floor and their workout gear and I think they already started selling merchandise with the new logo as well. I kind of enjoy the suspense, but I'm getting tired of waiting. I wish there would be an unveling ceremony and that they could bring Steve and Yao in to show off the new unis to the public and the press.
ROCKETS! For the love of GOD, end this insanity!!! Reveal the uniforms, so that we can get this board, back to its regular scheduled program.......... Probable trade rumors...........
I would just be happy if Tim would give us a better time frame for WHEN they will officially announce the thing. There is speculation that we will know in either July or August. But it would be nice to at least know a DATE so we can count down to this thing.
i think Tim has already answered this question (indirectly). reebok is having difficulties with the mass production of the unis, since they have to create them from scratch. therefore, the rockets do not know what date they will be released. the best they can do is give a range. for the record, i think this has been the absolute sloppiest job of presenting new uniforms that i have ever seen. rocket fans have been complaining about that toothy dildo since the day it was unwrapped. are we partners with the adult video megaplex or somethin'? so, this should have been planned for about 4 years now. i cannot believe that we did not appropriately collaborate with reebok so that a proper ETA could be given for the unis. still, i'm thrilled that we are getting new uniforms, and (assuming they are better than those snaggle tooth vibrators we have now) cannot wait to sport one around san antonio. let's just say it's hard to represent the rockets in a foreign city when you're sporting a grinning johnson on your chest.
The Rockets' new uniforms kinda remind me of the age old question. How do you keep an idiot(fan) in suspense? I'll tell ya tomorrow. I think the wait will be worth it. Besides, what good does it do right now? There are no games or practices for that matter. Patience is a virtue, grasshoppa. and if Tim steers us wrong, I say we lynch him.
Yeah, I thought it was going to be of a "dryfit" threading. But Tim has dropped us a hint and sometimes you have to run with that. The hint was that they are going with Reebok to produce the jerseys. Reebok has mainly done its basketball jersey's in its "Dazzle" fabric since it introduced the first team to wear Uniforms made of that fabric, which was Orlando's current (and soon to be past) uni's that featured the "blended-in star pattern" on the threading. So by Tim saying that they are going with Reebok, one can begin to assume that they will more than likely be made out of the Dazzle fabric that you now see Denver sporting in there new UCLA-ish uni's. The other big hint Tim dropped was the fact the he said the fabric the Rockets are going with has never been made in the color the Rockets choose, which was Dark Red, (more maroon to me.) Dark Red (or maroon) has never been sported in Dazzle threading before. So after seeing these hints Tim has given us, its safe to say we can expect the Rocks jersey's to be made of Dazzle fabric and probably be of a "street" vest cut. I'm still hoping for a "swingman" cut jersey though. And if Tim's all of a sudden giving us hints, which he hasent really been doing before, I guess its safe to say the DC Baller and I are on the money and that you can expect to see the Rockets slowly release the logo into the mainstream public to create a "buzz" which was sort of like what the Mavs did in 2001 as I pointed out earlier in this thread.
Tiger eye, I'm an old man, so i don't know much about these "cuts" would you mind posting pictures of the "street vest cut" and "swing man cut" also, maybe this is wishful thinking, but might we release the logo with a free agent signing? could this be the cause for delay? ...or does it seem as if the rockets plan to with-hold any changes for the next season, stand pat, and then make changes as necessary? any thoughts on Elton Brand? likely or not really on our radar?
On free agency, that's honestly a tough call. There have been so many rumors about Jermanie Oneal, but I can honestly tell you that more than likely he will stay put in Indy because reports are that Indy is willing to "break the bank" on him. And no matter what combo of fat contracts we can offer Indy, it would end up being a bad deal for us. More importantly, most teams arent really interested in any of our players so a sign and trade deal is highly unlikely, I believe. But word is Rockets management is willing to go into "Luxery tax territory" in order to improve the team. And word has it that if there were any player the Rocks would actually want to get, it would be Elton Brand because of his attitude, youth, size, and the fact that they can easliy lure him from the Clips without having to shell out the big bucks or send tons of players in a sign-and-trade. They dont want to give up the bench to land one player in a deal. If any deal happens for a free agent, it will be Elton Brand. The first two pics are cuts of jerseys Reebok makes. And as you can see in the pic, the wo Reebok jersey's (Magic, Sixers) are made out of that shiny Dazzle fabric while the Nike swingman jersey (Lakers) is made out of "dryfit" fabric.
nike swingman looks great, i had no idea we may be going with such a shiney material like "dazzle", wonder how that will look with our colors... doesn't look so great in the example. getting Elton would be amazing... The new uniforms come with the NEW Twin Towers, Elton Brand and Yao Ming. would we have to give up Griffin to get Brand in a sign and trade? would love to hang on to that youngster for a while. Those reeboxs don't look so good. It looks like we are heading for another ugly jersey. They don't have to be shinny to look good. I think nike got it right with their cut and material on the lakers jersey. Ours should resemble that design.
Tigereye, I have said all along I think the Nike Dry fit jerseys are the coolest looking. I like the cut of the collar the best. I am not too much of a fan of the shinny jerseys. Hopefully they wont be too shinny. The "street cut" of those 76er jerseys is ok. But not as cool as the Nike cut.
I was just remembering something... This may be a stupid question, but are these new unis coming hand in hand with a new team logo, too? Cuz when I think back to when the fact that we were getting new jerseys was announced on Rockets.com, and just any place we were talking about it, it seemed like the only thing that was changing was the uniforms... not the logo.
I don't like the Reebok street-cut. Especially when you see kids running around in the replica reeboks street-cut jerseys with the huge shoulder. Looks like shoulder pads Nike swingman jerseys are good.
I too like the NIke cut best. Out of the two Reeboks I'd have to go with the regular cut. I think that the street cut has too much fabric over the shoulders. Also, hopefully our uniforms will not be too shiny, although who knows, maybe it will look better with dark red/maroon than it does with royal blue or light blue.
