    Heh. Welcome to the board.

Common knowledge? Teams don't make money directly from their merchandise sales unless they have a team store. Any licensing fee profits from merchandise sold outside a team store (like, in a Footlocker or at Academy) goes back to the league. The league splits it 29 ways, and sends each team back 1/29th.

Now, if a team has a store, it gets to keep 100% of the retail margins. Seeing as how the Rockets won't have a team store until the arena opens ... if this were a purely profit-driven business decision, it would make more business sense to wait until the team store was ready to open in September to release. The hottest sales will be the month or so post-release, so you'd want to be part of those revenues.

But I'm glad you chose to enlighten us with your "common knowledge" of how the business works. Thanks. Really. Nice first post.

By the way, if we could get the merchandise from Reebok sooner, we'd give up the extra profit and have them release it as soon as it was available. There's value having people wear your jersey around town that goes beyond some extra profits. And we're proud of the new stuff. We want it out there. They just don't have the goods ready yet. We wish they did, and we know they're working hard to get it done.

Hey Tim, I've heard that reebok is planning on using some form of new fabric for the new uni's that combines the benefits of using "Dryfit" (like Toronto, Miami, Lakers all use) material with the look of Reebok's patented "Dazzle" (Miami uses) look thread base. Its supposed to be revolutionary or something. Is this the case and is that why Reebok is taking so long to get "the goods" done?

Ooops...........................Miami doesnt use Nike's "Dryfit" fabric. They use "Dazzle" material or as most fans refer to it as "satin/silk PJ's."

I have just a few questions for Tim. I know you cant answer much and thats ok, but maybe I'll get lucky with one or two of these generic questions

*Is there going to be a Alt. Jersey to go along with The Road and Home?

*Will there be a secondary logo?

*What "style of cut" is the jersey?

*Does it look like anyone elses jerseys at all?

I know you probaly cant answer these but I can cross my fingers and hope so!

    Thanks Tim

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. If it isn't, you're a little behind...a couple of years.

Tim, thanks for clearing up the economic aspect of the decision.

    Here's a question...

Why is this thread no longer STICKY?

Do Clutch and Jeff know something that we dont? Are they letting this thread fade away because there is an anouncement coming soon? Or, am I being too analytical?

I think its not a sticky anymore because of the Badiane(sp) sticky that they put up. I dont know if they can have more that one sticky at once.

Very UCLA Bruin-ish. All I can say about it is it doesn't completely suck.

I hope our unis can be simple like all these new unis, simple but trendy and clean, if that makes sense

Are you kidding me? Those unis suck! Is that from the Victoria's Secret collection?

At least our pajamas aren't made out of silk!
