lol on the average plan costs.

    Sprint SERO: 24 months * 24 bucks (20% discount) = 576
    Sprint Diamond (upgrade over Mogul)= 550-200 rebate-80 discounts=270
    846 for two years

    Boo Sprint sucks boo.

This is not the droid you are looking for.

i did read somewhere that tmobile isn't planning on releasing anymore android phones this year besides the 4 already out (g1, mytouch, cliq, and one more that's escaping me), so gotta wait till next year.

So does this mean Verizon thinks they won't get the iPhone sometime in 2010 after-all or is this more so that Verizon has a comparable phone that can directly compete with the iPhone in the meantime?

If Verizon knows they won't get the iPhone until late 2010, they would be foolish to sit on their hands until then. The more successful they are with Droid and other iPhone competitors, the stronger their negotiating position is with Apple when they sit down and finalize details. I seriously doubt Apple will continue being exclusive with AT&T, especially since Verizon starts rolling out LTE (4G) in 2010 and kicks more dust in AT&T's face. I'm not immersed in the "ins and outs" of cell phone technology like I was a long time ago, but the gap in network capability between the two will widen over time as AT&T is at least a year behind in their LTE rollout plans.

It still is relatively new, so the apps are just getting rolling. There are also a ton of homebrew apps and tweaks out there to really customize the phone.

Ive had zero problems so far with the Pre.

oh and btw....I think that chart *may* be off in one spot, the package I setup with it when I got it had unlimited data/text, and if memory serves it was the 99.99 one.

gotta admit the Droid sounds good....but Im in no position to switch carriers at this time.

Well Sprint does have the Hero, which runs Android. It currently runs Android 1.5 but they've said it'll update soon and I'm sure even more Android phones will be released for Sprint. AT&T is the only carrier without an Android phone now, but apparently there are going to be some announced soon. At least I hope so.

Spot on. Personally, I think Vzw should kick Apple in the butt and never negotiate with them, but there are too many Apple fanboys to pass up on that market. Many say that Vzw is kicking themselves for passing up on the Iphone, but personally I believe VZW came out better at this point. They are able to bring out a more profitable phone, designed what the market wants and designed on a system (Android/google) that has proven to be superior. The iphone was designed to be a cutesy ipod/phone combo with pretty graphics. The apps is what made it successful.
ATT will really struggle as the technology-to-market gap continues. VZW has the preferred spectrum and plenty of it to continue to roll out new platforms.

got mine yesterday, been playing with it all night, freaking sweet flipping phone. I was a G1 user since March this year, broke contract to jump because of the Droid and the employee discount I'm getting.

It's been seamless so far, no issues, the only complaint I have, is that on my G1, it didnt sync my contacts that I had on my SIM card over to my Gmail contacts, luckily, I have my contact sync from a Samaung WinMo and Blackberry phone I had in the past on Outlook, exported the .csv file over to my Gmail contacts and got 90% of my contacts remotely.

Its a noticeable difference between the Droid and G1, the data speed is probably the one that sticks out the most. I mostly used Edge when I had my G1 because of battery drainage issue, but even when I had 3G on, it was never this blazing fast. The processor is noticeably faster as you can go through the device smoothly with little, if any lag.

comparing to an iPhone, its in its own world. I am one of the people that doesn't want to get the device that everybody else wants and tries to wait for the alternative to come out, and this is it. I've had a Blackberry, Windows 5.0 phone, will NEVER touch a Palm device, and Android has the best for me so far, and doesn't hurt that I'm a Google junkie :)

I'd still rather have a jailbroken iPhone 3GS than the Droid.

I got the Droid and it ROCKS!!! It has free built in GPS that uses google maps to actually show you the surrounding area on your phone based on their database. Screen is absolutely gorgeous. Super advanced phone that should only get better with more apps being made specifically for the phone. Plus it is on Verizon.

I haven't played with the phone personally but I'm sure that Android 2.0 is outstanding. I'm hoping this phone resurrects Motorola's cell phone division.

If I was a customer and I've used neither phone, I think I would get the Droid before an iPhone.

Droid is decent but not quite there. The iPhone does feel like it's getting dated...a little.

As for iphone to Verizon rumors, it could happen. Notice that Verizon is attacking AT&T more than the iphone itself. If you need more information, there's a map for that
