As a man that humbles Morey fans, you should know right now is not the time. I agree that he needs to pursue depth but these fans will not reason with you. 18-5 moran. Contain yourself till playoffs warrior, because this team is finally playing decent.
What are you even talking about? This team hasn't even been HEALTHY enough to pull off trades. And what on Earth leads you to think that Morey is drunkenly hacking away at the trading block?? The fact that he HASN'T made a deal would lead anybody to think that in fact the OPPOSITE is occurring. Just because a deal hasn't been struck yet doesn't mean one won't. TODAY is December 15.....this day marks the BEGINNING of the trading season, not the end. Patience and understanding of the marketplace are two things every GM should have.
As has been mentioned the guys you worry about are only playing because the guys most people thought weren't good enough(but turns out that they were) to be considered quality depth have been injured. So many people had their pitchforks out because we didn't sign the Spencer Hawes' of the free agent world and that Morey had no idea what he was doing. Turns out our depth wasn't so bad after all AND we still have the flexibility to do more. If we woulda gone after those run of the mills we would be basically done.
When did Morey say that our current roster is our FINAL roster going into the playoffs and into next season and beyond???
Nah, this team is doing amazing. With the Rise of DMO and all our scoring coming back to the bench in Canaan/Papa/Jones (Hurry pls). We haven't seen this team at it's max potential.
How classic would that be for Riley to be willing to blow up the Heat roster and start over AFTER panicking and handing Bosh a 5-year max deal? Morey better never take that call from the Miami front office though if it happens.
I frankly don't understand the criticism to the OP. He's basically saying that our current core is good enough to push the button, improve the bench and try to compete NOW; and it is our GM who does not think the same, cause he's sacrificing a whole season of prime Howard & Harden years, renouncing to those kind of moves to get another try for a third star player. Indeed, we could upgrade our -better than expected- bench with proven veterans and try to win everything right now. Morey is renouncing to that. We don't know if it will be worthy, but those are facts.
People complain that there is too much roster turnover. People complain there are not enough trades. Blah blah blah
I guess all the GMs are drunk and dumb then. Especially the GMs from all of the teams with worst records who haven't made a trade.
I agree with the point you are making...but I probably would have said this a little bit differently.
