It's some piece of uniform technology Nike has come up with. I think it's supposed to prevent shoulder pads from coming up through the neck hole during play or something like that. It's at the front of the collar and you'll know it when you see it. Because of the way they use it, they can't do a separate collar color all the way around. Teams that have it either have their collars the same color as the rest of the jersey or the trim color just stops when it reaches the flywire portion. Here's what the Texans jerseys would've looked like with the flywire collar.
Count me in your minority, because I like this look as well... way way better than the thick horse collar that makes the team's jersey look like an girls high school uniform.
I just bought a battle red Foster jersey, I'll try to post pics here but if you want just check out my FB page. It's easy to find me Sean Matheus... I'm sure no one else spells it that way. And no I'm not looking for added FB friends, the only time I get on is to post pics of my fam and sports crap.
The point and concept behind the Nike design is that the new uniforms are more aerodynamic and less loose. True story for you: So Nike gets one player from each team to model the new 2012 unis for a photo shoot. Vick turns to Urlacher and says "Hey...your jersey is a lot more...form fitting...whats up with mine?" Urlacher says something to the effect of "Dunno, but i think it will be easier to grab you"
yea . . I'm trying to allow the larger collars to acclimate to my liking, but I can't help but be in the "minority view" here - The Saints used and will use the broken collar fly pattern Dre modeled, (as several other teams will) and it looks better to me. Still I'm trying very much to be okay with what the Texans decided on
FWIW, that's just a photoshop to show what our jerseys would look like with the flywire collar. 'Dre modeled the version they're currently wearing.
the road jerseys dont look bad at all.. infact i think the big collars looks so much better then the broken collars the saints had.. vs
Ok I took these and they'll probably show a better image of the new hem and mesh along with the collar.
I don't know, I think the jerseys look pretty good. Flash21, that looks like a pretty sweet purchase.
Not a huge fan of the horse collars, but it's a helluva lot better than the half collars. Those look like they're wearing a sweater over a button down. If it were me, I'd ditch the trim altogether and just go with a collar that matches the jersey color.
