Exactly. Everyone's playing better, including Rafer, and somehow the threads are twisted and contorted negative. I mean ... 'Sure, playing great but can he/they really keep it up?' Pls help us...
Err... if you meant you wanted to see Bibby join our PG rotation, and not just replace Alston, I guess that wouldn't be so bad. Some welcome depth at point, and hopefully at least one of the two will be able to shoot decently on any given night. Depends who we have to give up.
I would do this trade in heartbeat Bibby (this dude hits clutch shots and is a much more conistent shooter, especially in playoff time) Rafer gets tight in the playoffs and starts passing up shots for Rafer, MJ, and Snyder.
Rafer is good for 3 quarters, however, when the game gets tight he punks out. When Sacto was coming back in the 4th qtr he passed up a wide open 3 and missed a layup. After that he wanted nothing to do with the ball on the offensive end. That is my problem with Rafer, no balls in the 4th qtr
Please tell me exactly how Bibby is better? He is slower. He is a significantly worse defender. He is a marginally better passer. He is a very marginally better shooter (still sub 40% for a couple years running before the last game). The best argument that could be made for him is that he might work well with Adelman... but the same theory was made about Bonzi, and while he's been productive, he hasn't exactly been spectacular.
Add something to my previous post#46. In that HOU-UTA series, the average scores were 87-90 for these two teams. It was f**king 87 pts, i guess 90 pts per game is too much to ask for the JVG's team, right??? In the regular season last year, defensively, Rox was a top 3 denfenisive team. And also, JVG is a great defensive coach. Did you mean, in that playoffs, suddenly, Rox was a bad defensive team and JVG was a bad defensive coach? I do think JVG's defense was kind of overrated, but it was far from bad. To me, obviously, Rox lost that series by its bad offense. Please don't tell me "defense wins in the playoffs", it sounds so stupid to me. A simple question to you, how can you prove "defense wins in the playoffs"? How to prove it? .
To be fair, Bibby is also definitely a better closer, which is nice... But this is not the same Bibby that was a part of those contending Kings teams.
The question is, what point guards are available to the Rockets that would not force them to get rid of their core assets? Only the Grizzlies have just dumped a player of value this year. Otherwise, even washed up stars are getting a king's ransom. What if Andre Miller requires giving up Brooks and Landry along with the expiring contracts? Do you still pull the trigger?
Well, check out who has won championships. They are usually the best defensive teams. I don't see any rings on the fingers of players on the Suns, or Warriors, do you?
It's not defense, its balance. You can't totally ignore one side of the ball and expect to win. The Rockets were the worst team in offensive efficiency of all 16 playoff teams in the post season. As far as his D, he let Rafer get burned by Deron and he allowed Boozer to wreck shop on Yao without trying any other kind of adjustments. He deserved to lose his job.
JVG's offense was horrible. TMAC and Yao was terrible on offensive end too. Rockets' talent level was significantly lower than Utah's. Rockets' PG is the worst starting PG in the league. Rockets' glue , Battier, became a bottle of water. Yet, Rockets almost beat Utah because of their defense. Defense won your playoffs. Had Yao played intense defense on Boozer, or Okur played loose defense on Yao, the results would be much different.
