Ja also has the ball in his hands alot more than Jalen and he does not ball with a ball dominant center, so the lanes are more open for him to drive.
The difference mostly is that Ja is a PG who sees the floor and open teammates once he drives. This is also part of why Westbrook was a superstar despite a crappy 3pt shot. Or Derrick Rose pre-injury. All the superstar guards who don't shoot 3s well have incredible vision and passing ability. You can't compare Jalen, who is at best a below-average passer, to these other players. When defenses know you aren't going to make the correct pass, it's much easier for them to defend you at the rim. So unfortunately for Jalen, he does need to shoot well to succeed. Because at this point we can probably all agree his playmaking ability is not going to ever be above average.
I have said this since NOV last year and more recently. I wouldn’t say the players don’t fit around Green but rather the system doesn’t fit the players and the current group doesn’t fit around Sengun. Seems like Udoka wants to play like DEN but HOU personnel is vastly different in terms of ability. Again we have explosive players and can play at a faster pace opening up the game full court putting pressure on defenses. But we have forced a system centered on Sengun where he and FVV dominate touches. In that first QTR I saw the Rockets fed Green the ball. FVV gives it to him on the wing then moves to the corner. They also gave it to him further out on the wing to work. And ran double drags to get him open. They have been doing this thru the year but very inconsistently as the half court set is primarily focused on getting Sengun in his spots. Udoka needs to find a balance between feeding Sengun and getting Green going. One way I suggested is to get Green more touches and less FVV.
What reads aren’t he correctly making on offense to find the open man. Can you give me specific examples? I disagree. We have seen him make several great passes to the interior and finding shooters especially since year 2. He almost avg 4 assists his second year and 3.5 last year with room to grow. Again he doesn’t get as many touches as any of those star guards mentioned on this thread. But he still makes the proper read most of the time in terms of finding open teammates either on the short roll, short corner or perimeter. I would venture to say he would reach 5 or 6 assists a game given touches and opportunity to dominate the ball as Anthony Edwards does.
The post I responded was comparing him to Ja. Ant is a better shooter than Jalen both career wise and this year. So if you want to compare him to Ant you would want him to shoot a hell of a lot better than what he's doing right now. If you disagree go ask Ant to put up more bricks so Jalen can compare better with him.
The biggest issue is that Green needs to shoot better than 40% from the floor and 31% from 3. If he starts making shots at the rate of a number one option on offense, a lot of issues will disappear.
Dumbass response considering I simply said I disagree. What does being a good shooter have anything to do with playmaking as you were specifically talking about passing and playmaking. You said he was “below average” in passing. I also asked you specifically to tell me which reads he isn’t making and give me examples which you can’t can you?
