I think it is silly to try and discredit something with one news headline. We have similar headlines every single day in almost every city in the US.

I never said it was perfect there.

Here are some other headlines from that same link:

Sweden comes to terms with huge youth demo

    Swedes love to hug

How much is that dildo in the window?

Oh, and I just talked to my wife about the case and she says that the none of the kids involved are Swedish. I'd post a link but it's in Swedish.

That wasn't an attempt to discredit your post at all. I googled Sweden youth and got that site.
Just struck me coindidental that the headline was what it was..I actually respect how you posted and it was nice to hear about your family at present.

I replied to your post, because you emphasized Sweden.

I personally feel raising children is problematic in every country, with or without the spanking debate.

I don't need to debate spanking, I 've raised 5 children and the results are what they are. (I have to talk to lots of parents about how to deal with parenting because I'm a pastor, but that is another story)

I can say that good parenting is not subjective. At least in most every single case I have observed.

I'm in D&D just needling things a little, that's all.

I truly am glad your family is doing so well.

Good clarification, I already stated I googled it, it struck me coincidental so I posted- and if the Swedish youth are doing well, I'm grateful.

I'm sorry if I jumped to conclusions or became defensive. I just think we (Americans) could learn a lot from other cultures. Swedes take pride in taking care of each other, especially their young. Mothers get to stay home with their babies for 2 years (paid) and fathers get 6 months (paid). Everyone has medical and dental coverage. Swedes have, year in and year out, one of the best school systems in the world. Everyone gets 6 weeks of paid vacation every year. Family is very important. I know they have their flaws as well, who doesn't, but it just seems different. A different that I think is good. I like the idea of people loving and trying to help each other.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure their system would work here. I wouldn't want our government taking care of me and I think too many people would try to take advantage of the system. If you give our society an inch, they want a foot. I don't know how to change it. It really disheartening.

Do you post on youtube under the account mycock4u? I just thought it was coincidental that I just read a comment the same as yours within 10 minutes. I'm asian too and had strict parents, but I didn't have much physical abuse. Anyway, here's the comment and everyone can enjoy a good rendition of Blackbird...to the product of parents beating the shiat out of us (satirically)

My dad spanked my sister and I with a paddle until we were around 6 or 7. The last time he did it was when he accidentally slipped and hit my sister on the leg, leaving a huge welt. I suppose those spankings are why we were well behaved growing up, rarely talked back and never partied or drank or missed dinner at 5:30 every night. I think the paddle really sent a message.

When we got to college is when we realized just how f#cked up we were. As we discovered recently though, that had more to do with the verbal abuse and rage of my dad coinciding with his rheumatoid arthritis. He's happily drugged up now and a lot nicer towards us. It takes awhile to rebuild your self-esteem, though.

I think swatting your kids is much more humane than verbally abusing them. The intention is everything.
