Listening to Barry Soetoro's speech right now... Doesn't he have the same rhythm, pacing, and voice emphasis as Jeremiah Wright? I'm serious here, I really believe he has patterned his speaking style after him.
It's what Barack Obama's name was when he lived in Indonesia. It's probably the name on his Indonesian passport as well.
I talked to 2 middle class white men in there 40's today, I asked them did they think Hillary should get it.What I got was a "Hell No" they didn't want anymore bushes or Clintons in the White Houses. These were two Libertarian voters..
Nice! Did anyone just see Barack sign to the deaf person in the crowd (he knows American Sign Language for the Deaf?).
Obama made the mistake of calling Biden the next prez in the intro, that was funny. I'm sure that's gonna make for ammo for McCain.
Did someone from the McCain campaign really text the CNN anchor to say Barack handed over the Presidency by calling Biden the next President on accident? Hilarious. The 7 kitchen tables line was hilarious too.
I like that Biden referenced Lincoln; they are already lining up the Team of Rivals bit I referenced earlier. From Amazon.com's intro of that history: "The life and times of Abraham Lincoln have been analyzed and dissected in countless books. Do we need another Lincoln biography? In Team of Rivals, esteemed historian Doris Kearns Goodwin proves that we do. Though she can't help but cover some familiar territory, her perspective is focused enough to offer fresh insights into Lincoln's leadership style and his deep understanding of human behavior and motivation. Goodwin makes the case for Lincoln's political genius by examining his relationships with three men he selected for his cabinet, all of whom were opponents for the Republican nomination in 1860: William H. Seward, Salmon P. Chase, and Edward Bates. These men, all accomplished, nationally known, and presidential, originally disdained Lincoln for his backwoods upbringing and lack of experience, and were shocked and humiliated at losing to this relatively obscure Illinois lawyer. Yet Lincoln not only convinced them to join his administration--Seward as secretary of state, Chase as secretary of the treasury, and Bates as attorney general--he ultimately gained their admiration and respect as well. How he soothed egos, turned rivals into allies, and dealt with many challenges to his leadership, all for the sake of the greater good, is largely what Goodwin's fine book is about. Had he not possessed the wisdom and confidence to select and work with the best people, she argues, he could not have led the nation through one of its darkest periods." Don't mistake me. I do not think Barack will be a Lincoln-like figure. But I do deeply respect those who are not afraid of surrounding themselves with intelligent critics.
I don't think there are going to be many people who were for Obama who would all of a sudden change their mind because Biden's on the ticket. Hillary would have been a tricky choice. I think some of her supporters that are holding out would in turn support Obama, but not all of them. Furthermore some people would abandon Obama, and I think he'd lose some independent and GOP support. It might have also looked bad for his leadership in that he could have appeared to be weak because it would have looked as if he was bullied into the selection. In the end Biden doesn't alienate current supporters, and probably won't scare off whatever independents and gop crossovers that would vote for Obama. With Clinton it would have been both good and bad, and there isn't a real way to know which one would have outweighed the other. Picking Biden shows wisdom. I think Obama is wise enough to know that someone with the foreign policy experience would help him despite his push for change.
If you have seen him on Meet the Press, you know he doesn't take crap from anybody and will tell you where to shove it and shut up. Also, Biden has all the numbers when it comes to how much this country has spent, and where all the money has gone, so when it comes to the debates McCain better pick someone real good or he's out of luck. Biden's speech today was also VERY good. Already started hitting McCain hard. Love it. It's Michelle and Jill Biden! You sure?
Yes Clinton had the highest rating, but that doesn't mean that Biden will repulse people who were already on board with Obama.
This not meant to be antagonistic in any way, but rather a part of some work I'm doing on polling... May I ask if you are caucasion/hispanic/black?
is biden really known for being smart? because while some people may think this is funny, i think he sounds like a douchenozzle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIT3jUrNTX0
Here is a clip of Biden while drunk. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NmRXH7RkCZQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NmRXH7RkCZQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> GREATNESS
The great thing is that so many of the Republicans calling out Biden for clips like that are the exact same ones in 2000 and 2004 who voted for Bush because "they'd like to have a beer with him" and because he had the "average Joe" personality. Double standards, much?
