Not long at all http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/08/new_mccain_ad_slams_biden_airs.php
he worries me. he has a problem saying stuff that gets him in trouble. he's also a bit too hawkish for my taste. but i like the guy.
That didn't take long. I look forward to hearing Biden's spin on that now. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RDVUPqoowf8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RDVUPqoowf8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
so, we're supposed to vote for a combo where the vp candidate basically said obama is not ready to be president and on-the-job training is not the place to gain that experience? right... .
What I don't like about the pick: -The clip above. That is poison and we will be seeing it a lot. -He makes Obama look weak on experience. -Similar to Bentsen/Dukakis, people will wish the roles were reversed. -Strong ties to the credit card industry What I like about the pick: -Personally, I think Joe Biden is a cool guy. -I think he would make a kick ass president if the need arose. -Not a yes man, able to honest counsel to President Obama, ala Lincoln's cabinet of rivals. -Because of his age, probably too old to run for the top spot in eight years, he should be a tireless attach dog campaigner, unlike an up and comer looking to protect their political future (John Edwards '04). -He might make some people more comfortable with Obama. (I think this one is a stretch. If you are a voter that is refusing to vote for Obama because he is black or because he is inexperienced, I don't see Biden, or any other vp, changing your mind on it.) I liked Reed and Sebelius better, but that was just based on a few rushed articles I read about them over the past few months. I support the choice. As the day wears on, I am more and more excited about the choice. Obama/Biden 2008
Awesome choice. If Obama wins, it will be due to Biden not putting his foot into mouth yet again. (of course we know, that ain't going to happen.) Awesome.
Disagree. I'm coming to like this pick more and more, in part because he is known for gaffes and for running his mouth. Obama has run such an incredibly disciplined and tightly managed campaign that, coupled with Republicans mocking him as a "Messiah", make him seem detached and not human. Along with him being black and from Hawaii, Obama is a candidate that is difficult for many Americans to relate to. Biden is human. He speaks his mind, he makes mistakes, but he's smart as hell and says what he means. I think that balances out Obama's aloofness well and will help the campaign connect with voters.
If I were republicans, I'd hold off the sneer ads until they/we find out McCain's choice. I look forward to the VP debate.
Don't really see what the big deal is about that ad...I'm sure it'll be a little damaging, but the article says the quote about McCain came way back in '05...that's three years ago. You could easily counter...a lot can change in three years; three years ago gas was a couple bucks, three years ago the housing market was still booming (right?), three years ago McCain may have remembered where all his homes were (ok that was a low blow) and three...no not three months ago McCain was intent on running an honest, sincere campaign devoid of personal attacks. As for his shot against Obama...shoot that was before he ran an extremely efficient, well-organized campaign - as an underdog - to beat a formidable opponent in the Primary.
Picking Biden undercuts two themes from Obama: 1) That he represents change from typical Washington insiders 2) His anti-war stance And best of all, Biden is known for arrogance and plagiarizing... hey, so is Obama! Two peas in a pod! Look, if this isn't admitting that Obama is weak on foreign policy, I don't know what is. This pick doesn't help him in Virginia. Nor does it help him in Nevada, Colorado, Ohio, or Michigan. Those states will decide the race. Now, if McCain were to pick Romney, he has someone who is quite capable of being President AND he provides help in Michigan, Nevada, and Colorado. Once again, Obama has made a rookie mistake. This is another slap in the face of Hillary. She got 18,000,000 votes in the primary, while Biden got ... what.. 500,000 votes? The bottom line here is that you've still got an inexperienced candidate leading the ticket, with no foreign policy experience, San Francisco values, and a God-complex. Let the games begin, friends! UNFIT TO LEAD
Wow. This tells you all you need to know. Obama is not ready and the US will be better off with McCain Sincerely, Joe Biden
http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/issues/candidates/joe-biden/#poverty Biden on the issues. Long, but worthwhile
Well we all know that no presidential candidate has picked a VP who said something negative about him and then gone on to win. Obama is toast!
Lingering resentment over the 3:00am ad that crippled Obama across the Midwest? One last poke in the eye to Hillary supporters? Now that's just not hella smart.
