That guy was only the lastest calving of a rather formidable iceberg of misadventures by the N.Y. Times.

Yes, once upon a time I was a well-known media star:D , so I hold my former colleagues to a higher, harsher standard. That is why, when a newspaper consistently errs, they lose both my respect and readership. Electronic journalists, on the other hand, can't help themselves.;) (Yes, in my later years I was one of those too.)

As an aside, it was my one time hero, Dan Rather, who in the Nixon years declared "I'm going to get Dick Nixon" on national television. At the time I was a print journalist and he, of course, was an electronic star. Nevertheless, I was dumbfounded (not because he didn't like Nixon but because he abandoned objectivity and fairness).

My respect for Rather was lost at that very same moment -- when he sired what was to become known as "advocacy journalism." This was to be the downfall of the Fourth Estate. Hence, Rather's latest escapade surprises me not. Neither do the ones made by CNN, ABC and FoxNews.

Guanaco, If I'm not mistaken, that would be a chart of what each media corps employees gave, right?

That's slightly misleading, and a much different thing than measuring what say, a corporation's senior management or directors gave, or large shareholders, etc.

BTW, Didn't viacom refuse to run anti-Bush ads on CBS during the super bowl?

    Must have been that 19%.

Not that many people know that I have owned and raised English Springers for better than 40 years. I just can't remember who raised Jack Russell terriers. That happens with age.:)
