OOPS! CNN accidentally uses McRib Remix when doing a short piece on this story: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NyBAD_ylWbg&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NyBAD_ylWbg&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
LOL, it's okay. I get it. Apparently everybody on this board gets it too. I guess I'm the only one that got offended by his comments. And that is what is most surprising.
Did we read the same post? He was complimentary of her, but still maintains she is fat. (Which is subjective anyways.) Or perhaps you view 'fat' purely as an insult and prefer the word 'overweight'? I guess I could see that point, but he clearly didn't mean it in an insulting way. I caught this while flipping channels! I was thinking WTF??? It's like they probably ripped the first YouTube video they could find w/out previewing it.
I appreciate that you are trying to understand. But tell me, prof, how do you read: FAT FAT FAT As a compliment or insult? Listen, I really don't care if someone likes overweight people or not. But what I do care is people like him running down the street pointing at someone and calling them fat fat fat then running away. And what he did here is the same as on the street except here he can run and hide quicker. I dare him to actually take his attitude to the streets. Then again, if this board actually represents the world thoughts and sees absolutely nothing wrong here then I apologize to the world and the board. And I will bow out gracefully.
AHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I mean... HAHAHAHAHAHAH HOOHOOHOOO!! These people who shovel the 'news' at us as their business are constantly proving that they are the dumbest bunch of clowns EVER. They put something on national television without even LOOKING at it!! ROFL Oh jeez I can't stop laughing... lol
That CNN FAIL! I hilarious!  Really makes you think about the idiots working over there in the media.
What is "a bunch"? More people struggle with obesity than anorexia and bulimia. But the danger is on tow sides of the issue. For the much smaller percentage of women who are anorexic or bulimic it is a deadly disease and it is one their daughters are likely to have as well from growing up with a mother who has it. Also, it is linked to a lot of other serious psychological problems around depresion, control and self-worth. Finally, a high percentage of actors, models and dancers struggle with this and you are more likely to fall into it if you are surrounded by others who are anorexic. Women encourage each other to think that a tiny cube of cheese is all they really need to eat for four hours. Even women who are not painfully thin are under the impression that their body fat can never be too low. I have several friends in their mid-thirties who are convinced that all the exercize they get is only making them healthier. That sounds like a good thing but they are also infertile as a result of having too little body fat to make enough estrogen to ovulate. In other words, in order for a woman's body to work how it is supposed to, we are supposed to be a little bit softer than you guys. On the flip side, while many women are not painfully skinny they aspire to be. Having men around them oggling ironing boards is a large part of the problem. A grown woman shouldn't look like a thirteen year old boy or want to! What a woman wants to look like should concern you guys not only for the well being of your daughters but also because even a slightly overweight woman is going to be unnecessarily self-conscious about her figure to the point of redcing her libido. That reason alone should make you want to be more supportive But it will also influence how confident she is about academics and her work life so it will ultimately make a difference to her earning potential and her overall health.

I don't think people would give a s*** if I called her FAT in "the streets". It's a description based on my opinion of her. People say far worse things about other people all the time. Anyway, like I said people are so sensitive of the word fat. Thank you for proving my point. And I was being complimentary of her. I said she was fat, but she's still hot. I also said most fat women don't look like her and I prefer skinnier women. Somewhere along the line, I got offered a "fat fist sandwich" by you and your entire family. Obviously, YOU overreacted and meanwhile revealed something about yourself. Instead of being angry, take your aggression out at the gym bro.
My problem with a lot of the people who stand up to defend big women is that they always seem to feel the need to trash women who are thin. If that's not your intention here, then I apologize, but that's what it really sounds like when you call thin women ironing boards. It's just as offensive to point to a big woman and say "that's what a real woman looks like" as it is to point to a thin woman and say every woman should try to look like that. If you want big women to feel good about their bodies, you should stop denigrating women who might be naturally thin.
Why can the C!ial!s and Vi@gra and all those other "male enhancement" commercials say "Call if you have an erection lasting more than ## hours", but Lane Bryant can't show THIS?
There is a big difference between the figures of a naturally thin person and a career model. You should be able to tell the difference and I think in person, you can. There isn't anything that is wrong or less than beautiful with a thing figure but fashion models don't look like that. Generally they look like they are on the verge of death but well dressed. Often, they are on the verge of death and we aren't doing them any favors by saying, "keep it up, you are looking so smoking!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTIjRxT_Y9g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTIjRxT_Y9g
I can agree with this (and her opinion too. So much subjectivity in it. ) It seems the put-down element is what all sides want, along with having their looks be acceptable. Its I knock down your self esteem before you knock down mine. You're actually getting more back by pushing people into a corner, rather than by promoting an ideal image. Having a fat chick in desperation mode is better for some people than an actual proud curvy woman. Typical shaming techniques. You either get people working harder, or you can feel good about yourself putting them down. Win-win for the person that does it.
