i'm a chinese citizen who grew up in US. i'm not communist... and i vote that the movie is offensive... is that good enough to justify the censorship? to me, yes... seriously though, i think most of yall are sooooo brainwashed by this whole freedom thingy, it's not even funny. who gives a **** that it's censored or not. besides, americans have no say in chinese government. it's not like china go around tell what US should do or not do.

that reminds me, where are these Hollywood films depicting Chinese people with scars?

The only Asian guy I remember is the KOREAN from Best of the Best.

It's not. You're just one in a billion.

Why not let anyone who wants to see for themselves decide if it's offensive or not? Hey, if the Chinese people want the gov't to think for them, that's fine by me.

wouldn't it be too late for them to decide? i mean, after i see it and get pissed. i don't have a choice not to see it you know. you'll just get a bunch of pissed off people. besides, who the hell cares about this freaking movie topic when there are other more important issues to care about. i go to movies to relax, not paying to get pissed off by mis representation.

    mis presentation about what?
were your ancestors pirates ? you are right people go to the movie to be relaxed and watch THE MOVIE not what was EDITED BY THE GOVERNMENT.
did you see the movie? why were you offended? that the pirates didn't look like REAL PIRATES OF CHINA?? you STILL didn't show me what they are suppose to look like so your arguement of MISREPRENTATION is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. its just you being biased by your OWN Government!!! But I guess that's cool, some people like their government dictacting their lives. I guess you don't write books or obviously make movies. if you did and some goverment .. lets say you have a movie going to angola, and the angolans cut off some scenes about angolan ghostbusters cause they don't think ghostbusters were accurate. oh well. sucks.

i lived in US most of my life, so i don't think i'm biased or like government dictating my life. my whole point is, does censoring part of the movie, does any harm to a human being intellectually, emotionaly, or any other way. the answer for most people would be no, i would think. so why does yall care about such an insignificant issue. i think yall just way too sensitive on these stuff. i mean, why yall even care what other people do. maybe that's why a lot folks in other countries don't like us cuz we get in their business too much.

    What are you talking about?

Censoring a movie is destroying it's integrity. It is insulting to the producers and the audience to tell them that they can not think for themselves.

I haven't seen the movie, but many Chinese are saying that it screws up the plot line. You don't even know what it going on after the edit.

How are we in their business? We are just commenting on what they did. Why do they care what movies we make?

this is an american movie that is censored by a foreign government.
you like changing topics and strafing off the main one.

    1. you never answered any questions about why it was offense. what scene and why it was.
    2. you never gave any proof of what the pirates in the region are suppose to look like.

how is this insignificant if the government proclaims it insults 1 billion people?

Uh, like I said, you obviously would not relate to having someone take your work and changing it. can you even imagine yourself as a writer?
what if i had the power to cut out half the stuff you say here? that wouldnt be right. that's whats being done.

tin, they're just censoring it in China, which they have a right to. we make modifications to imports all the time. I assume the gov't is looking at it the same way. if Disney doesn't want to be censored, then they can simply decide to not show it in China.

I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about here. i think it's bothering you more that people are ok with the gov't doing this.

it bothers me that the director who's intent of showing a movie and hiring the best chinese actor is accused of trying to intentionally be offensive to the entire country based on the facts that he's bald and has scars for a PIRATE.
the sheer stupidity of it bugs me.

im not saying racism doesnt exist in hollywood toward asians. of course it does, not here though.

balla, that's like if you are tupac and some ho accused you of some bs and you know you didnt do anything except be at the club at the same time she was there.

    F#$$# censorship
    TUPAC FOREVER!

what was it that has scarred you so badly? You act like you were traumatized by a half bald Chow Yun Fat with a scar on his face.

Are you offended because Chinese people are not suppose to be a pirate? That only low-life whitey's are suppose to be dipicted as somewhat morallly deficient? That's it's ok to show a bunch of other races portrayed as Pirates and show that to a Chinese audience, but not if one of the pirates is Chinese?

Would be ok if the pirate was Japanese though right? ;)

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was banned from China by the Film Bureau because of scenes of ghosts."

    I did not know that.

Haha, yuantian is scared of ghosts.

    :D at the Tupac reference.

I dont disagree with you, I aint seen the movie yet but I can't imagine why anyone would find Chinese pirates offensive. If the director wants to protest being censored like this, he can make some protests, or if Disney isn't happy, they can pull thier film from China, but they're too greedy to do that.
