Thats the caveat I would want to add if going after Gortat. I am a huge fan of signing him but not overpaying for him. I heard rumors that other teams were interested in signing him (i.e. Knicks) but would probably have to overpay to get him. I think he would be a great piece to whatever puzzle the Rockets are dealing with, or will be dealing with, but only for fair or slightly over fair value. He is what he is, a good backup, definitely nothing more than an average starter at best.

Makes us wonder if Morey knew about Wafer's rejection before the draft. Morey basically cleared the way for Wafer to move where ever He wants to go by drafting his replacements. Let us hope that the rookies or white can fill the same role and give the same energy and scoring off the bench.

Extremely efficient player on a per minute basis (10 points, 13 rebounds 2.4 blocks per 36 minutes, .585 TS%). Did well, too when he had to start and play heavy minutes (in 3 starts, averaged 10 points, 11.7 rebouns-- 5.7 offensive rebounds, 3 blocks in 33.6 minutes). Very good size body, decent quickness for his size.

The guy is 7 feet tall and 7 footers who can barely walk and chew gum at the same time gets paid $2 million a year in this league and have 10+ year careers (Calvin Booth, I'm looking at you).

He can dunk, but his post up skills are limited,he is foul prone through that might improve with experience. I don't think he should be offered the entire MLE.

Just based on size, modest track record of performance, appearance of skill set and age, Gortat is going to get something close to MLE.

Big dudes get paid. Big dudes with some skill and upside definitely get paid.

If you're 6'10 and over and can play the inside, you will get paid in the NBA. Unfortunately, we maybe in the market for a STARTING center, depending on the outcome of Yao.

Wafer REJECTED any real $$...??? Wow, now we know for sure that something aint right in his head.

What an idiot. He should ask Bonzi Wells how he felt after he rejected 40 million over 5/6 years after a strong playoff series, then nobody signed him, and he had to take a measly $2 million per year for 2 years from the Rockets.

He plays in China now, out of the NBA.

I'm hoping his agent is the one who told him to do this, otherwise that is just shocking...

We offered Stromile Swift the full mid level...

But the Clippers and Grizzlies still exist

To add to it... I think he did a better job playing against Yao than Dwight Howard did, particularly on the defensive end. Howard is kind of top heavy, Gortat's got more junk in his trunk and held his ground better banging Yao in the paint.

I agree. And if Wafer rejected it, it most likely means he's got an equal or better deal already in place. So good for him.
