It was a knockout. Truly, truly great stuff.

I don't know why I keep getting ticked off at this show, I watch it every summer and still get pissed when they pick the best reality-show participants instead of the best comics. Peter Engel is producing it, I don't know why I never learn ...

 

They are such hypocrites, they claim to want original material but anchor their ads for the show with the biggest hack bit in the business, the ol' "Job application" joke.

Yeah Peter Engel, the creator of "Saved by the Bell" is the creator of a stand-up comedy competition. Although I complain I think it's great exposure for stand-up, hell I've booked 4 gigs since my portion aired!

Anything with "Ant" as a judge, who was pushed into the finals so badly that Drew Carey walked off the set, deserves no accolades, whatsoever.

I do find it funny that their MC changes every year.

 

Yeah, Kathy Griffin last season and Ant? Come on now. Do you really take anything those two say seriously?

 

I will say this -- and this is in no way defending Ant or his "act."

He's a talent judge, little else. If it took the three brightest comedic minds to judge this thing, you'd see Dick Gregory, Seinfeld, Chris Guest et al up there. Food critics don't have to cook, rock scribes don't have to rock, and sportswriters have beer guts. That part of it is ok.

Rip on Ant for not knowing what was funny, but I'm uncomfortable for questioning someone's creds based on his (admittedly horrible) act alone.

 

Then you should feel just as uncomfortable that he is a talent judge solely because of his act.

AB, I had a chance to check it out and totally thought you rocked it...seriously, had me laughing pretty good. Disappointed to see you werent picked to move on, but very solid job regardless.

P.S. very clever with that not being able to tell them apart during the line up...good stuff.
