Maybe he detected a note of insincerity in your voice. Did you really miss him?

Not a big deal it is how he feels. If he demanded a trade from Houston like some people say of course he doesn't miss it here.

This whole statement made no sense at all. His worst year playing was in his contract year which is this year.

Exactly, imagine your ex-g/f coming up to you in front of a new g/f...what did you expect him to say?

That said, I imagine playing behind Nash and getting a fresh start did make him feel a lot better.

You did it wrong OP. You should have said:

"We miss you in Houston AB" (long pause) and right before or as he was speaking

Why would Brooks give you a heartfelt expression for his old team on a night when his new team is battling the defending 2-time NBA Champs?

Nothing says your all in with the Phoenix Suns like saying you miss the Houston Rockets.

You guys are reaching for things now! AB is gone so there is no need to kick dirt on the man. Let it go. Geez.

ya i'd be bitter too, he had an amazing playoff run, then an mip year, and didnt get paid, his backup got paid, then he gets injured and loses his starting job and still hasnt gotten paid, then he is shipped off to a team in an even worse situation (the avg age has to be like 40 on that team) i'd be unhappy too, still rooting for him cuz when he's on he's fun to watch

The OP is a fan of Brooks, he could have easily said “thanks” or “it was fun”. Saying “I don’t” is kind of messed up.
OP- you should have told him “I hope you have a good offseason.”

This was while a game was going on. Some of you act like he said this while signing autographs to the OP. It's easy to say what he should have said when you're not in that situation.

Really? Seems like he was being respectful by saying he missed AB in Houston.

To everyone defending him (assuming this story is true, which I have no reason to doubt):

He could have just said "thanks" or smiled or said nothing and left it at that.

No, he decided to be a jerk.

Therefere (again, if the story is true) - good riddance.

And yeah, had the same thought as NIKEstrad.
