please don't over speculate on a minuscule discrepancy between the two.

Brooks has looked fine to me. Other than the Orlando game he appears very willing to pass to Martin. Martin has been too tentative but I expect that will get better as time goes on.

How can people be down on either of these guys? They drop 50 points combined pretty much every night. They are a blast to watch and will only get better when the rest of the team comes back from injury.

Ulterior motives?? I don't get it either. For the first time in a long time the Rockets don't have that easy scapegoat guy like a Stromile, a Rafer, or a T-Mac. It's refreshing but then again people need something to whine about.

We need Ariza back to we have a legit reason to complain about a player.

The real problem is that neither of them has thrown a pass to Yao all year.

Something funny from last night's game: Both of Brooks' assists were to Kevin Martin.

    Kneejerk on the kneejerk??

Possibly you are getting mixed up! I suggest this because McGrady was a great passer and in fact was the only player, so far, on our team who could make accurate and timely passes to Yao Ming.
Possibly you mean Steve Francis & Yao. Steve was dreadful when it came to passing to Yao! :p

Since I got called out for making a similar statement on another post by a career poster (for drawing conclusions without facts) take a look at these figures. I'm not a stats person by any means but I crunched some numbers that somewhat substantiate the theory:
KMart has now been with the Rockets for ten games. He has averaged 16.7 FG attempts per game and shot an average of 10.1 3-pointers.
In the 53 games prior to the trade, Brooks averaged 15.9 FG attempts per game and 6.1 3-point attempts. He also averaged 6.2 assists, essentially without a bonafide scorer opposite him.
In the same 10 games since the trade, Brooks NOW averages 19.5 FG attempts and 7.7 3-point attempts, with an assist average of 5.8... and this with an accomplished shooting guard. Not the sort of figures you would want to see from someone who is supposed to complement and assist your main scorer.
As Halle Berry said in Swordfish, just a thought...

Please remember Lowry is out most of those 10 games. Hence Brooks actually playing more minutes in those games thus more FGs attempted.
I don't think Brooks has anything against Martin. Brooks' problem mainly is because he is a SG in PG body. Passing is simply not his instinct.

Actually Brooks averaged 5.1 assists per game prior to the trade. He is averaging almost 6 per game since. Also remember that Ariza and Lowry are out for most of the games Martin played. Aaron's shot attempts per minute are probably similar from before and after. Only he's playing more minutes in this 10 game stretch due to injuries. Or it could be that the other team is focusing more on martin since he is generally considered the better scorer leaving better shots for Brooks.

It's possible he wasn't here for last year's play-off run. But it was (and still is) painfully obvious where most of the ire towards Aaron Brooks comes from.

(And it's not that he is a shoot first point guard)
