Monte Ellis. I don't see Brooks can be that good. My expectation on him next season, a steady contributor off the bench.
The problem is that if Brooks doesn't shoot(and make) those jumpshots, his defender will play off of him severely to cut off his penetration, which negates his speed. All slashers need at least the threat of an outside shot in order to draw defenders closer. The reason Brooks should keep on shooting is that his history implies that he's at least a "decent" shooter. He's not Hayes, whom you'd never ever want to shoot anything other than layups ever. His shot is okay. He hasn't shot well this year, true. And if doesn't shoot better in this series, he won't be of any help. But at least he's capable.
He needs to get stronger and develop a quicker shot. A quicker shot is key for AB because teams will start to sag off of him.
He don't need to be like him, he is a better PG, and we can address the SG the off season. And head can't be our back up 2. He will make mayor steps next season, you saw the amount of rookies making mayor steps the next season, staring with Ellis, Deron, Kevin Martin, Rudy Gay etc. He may be not a superstar but he don't need to. He is getting better, his shooting going to get better and he will get more and more confidence. He now have to see what he need to improve and fixed in the offseason. He will be good for us, from the bench or as starter.
