I wonder if they have his bird rights, or did they have to use either part of the MLE, or BAE is what I'm wondering, I liked Holliday, he played well last yr, good for mentoring, also can be used as part of a potential trade at the deadline, maybe?
I have no concerns about giving Holiday $5 mil for this season. I’m assuming next year is team option or non- guaranteed. Holiday shot well last year and is an excellent 15th man on the roster. I was thinking he was more in the neighborhood of $3 mil per but as long as it’s effectively a 1-yr deal I’m good with it.
Good signing. The depth is needed and Reed will probably be on a Cam Whitmore rookie minutes trajectory assuming no injuries.
Third string pg + expiring salary for trades. If you are worried about Reed getting affected by this then you must have been panicking about Sengun when we signed Landale.
I think it is simple. We are trying to build on last year. We need salaries to aggregate and we want a stabilizing option at back up pg. I still want Amen getting A LOT of those minutes though. I love Shepp I don’t see him playing a lot this year. I want him playing starting pg in G league.
Keeping our 2nd best shooter. Now, all of our guards can shoot...except Jalen. I count Amen as a forward.
I suspect Holiday is here to backup PG until Reed is ready. Also, if the Rockets actuallly make a trade, they will likely still have depth to be a deep team.
Sheppard won't be an NBA starting PG to begin next year, maybe not at all. It's okay to give him time to breathe. Like Tate he fills a depth need and possibly becomes tradeable salary.
When Fred Van Vleet and Aaron Holiday were on the court together, the Rockets had a Net Rating of +13.2 This was easily our best backcourt last season because both can shoot.
This is great news. I want all mins to be earned via meritocracy this season. Whoever sucks can just play in GLeague or chill on the bench.
