First of all, why does dumbass always have to bring race into discussion when we talking about a NBA player. So Chinese posters are not allowed to dislike or criticize a player on the rockets? Secondly, I am chinese and my english is nothing like what you just put. Ok now you gonna say i can't take a joke or something...what ever....You might say I am a YOF...but actually FYI I became a rockets fan due to SF3 (which is kind of a stupid looking at it now). Back on topic...I won't say there were hate on this board towards AB. the thing was because of his style of play, penetrating all the way, he was often forced into tight situations where it ended up as a turnover. Offcourse having Yao in there clogging up the lanes would not help. I remember everyone praising AB's play. I reckon turnovers and simple mistakes are reduced over time, especially for guards. That is the reason why guards normally really break out in their 2nd or 3rd season as opposed to earlier. Right now with the lanes a lot more open without Yao, brooks really have more room to operate. It is great to see AB develop into something special. I hope that he will continue this kind of performance once opposing teams start focussing their defense on him. Offcourse, him being so fast would really help. In terms of Rafer vs AB. I feel that rafer's style of play is more suited for Yao as opposed to AB who would benefit more from pick and pop big men so he has room to penetrate (which i feel andersen is perfect for). Rafer on the other hand is a pass first guard who is a spot up shooter (although not a good one). His shooting percentage was the only problem. But his style was more suited to play alongside Yao. That is not a knock on AB, it is like saying nash is not good with yao is not saying nash is a bad point guard in any respect, but is only indicating that their styles don't complement each other. Anyway...I really don't feel that there were any hate for AB on this board.
This time last season he was being labled as a racist by yao fan boys for supposedly not looking for yao enough.. brooks is realling running the offense well. he's in between game has improved alot. he takes alot less contested shots and runs the transition offense realy well.
If he can perfect those little short jumpers and floaters around the rim similar to Tony Parker, he will be deadly.
I think that skill-wise, Aaron is simply one of the most talented players out there, but physically without help defense, I think that there is absolutely no way that he can match Williams. Williams also has a pretty great skill set to boot. Personally I'm elated that Aaron Brooks is shutting up all of these keyboard commandos and know-it-alls. In the end, the real fans, I think the silent majority actually, we all believe in these players and we know just how great they can be. Brooks didn't surprise me, but Ariza has been a surprise to me, the guy is looking like Scottie Pippen in his prime out there.
Thats the in between game. i think he is gradually getting better at that. he also dosent go up and pretty much get stock like last season pretty much resulting in automatic to's. sometimes he was to quick for he's own good. he is making alot more calculated moves now. it's great to see
Okay... Nice singling out all the Chinese fans. But I do think it is pretty obvious that Brooks earned his starting spot.
Well, I don't agree with how True Beaner phrased it, but he's right in that some of those posters were incredibly offensive. They were pissed because they believed Brooks wasn't passing to Yao. They called him coach's son, and some even referred to him as a monkey (!). How f***ed up is that? And it was pretty clear to me that these posters were Chinese. Anyway, whatever. I'm glad I won't have to wade through their "dumbass" posts this season.
you just did it yourself. many ways to put them in the same sentence. they're all starting pg for their team.
Judging by your name and this post, race obviously matters a lot to you. Looks like to me the only one making dumbass posts here is you.
I kept saying this during the preseason. Of all the players on this roster, he was quite simply the only player that truly looked like a star. Right from the very first preseason game, the overall impression I got from him was that he simply was on a different talent level from everyone else on the floor. While players were busy trying to find their roles and so on, he simply looked like he was just warming up for greatness. He could score whenever he wanted, he could get to wherever he wanted on the floor at any time, and it all looked so effortless. Inside, outside, off the dribble, whatever. I said it then -- if there is any one player that can average 20ppg on this team, it's Aaron Brooks. I picked the under on the 17.5ppg prediction only because I thought the return of T-Mac would impact his stats negatively enough, but even now I wouldn't be surprised if he continued to maintain a high scoring average. Oh, and I hate it when people bring up the "he won't be able to guard Williams and Billups" argument. #1 -- He hasn't had problems with these guys in the past despite giving up size (remember how he torched Billups multiple times?) #2 -- Even superstar point guards have trouble with these guys -- notoriously, Chris Paul is Deron Williams' personal maidservant, and this is well known.
I just did a thread search for old AB threads....man there are some GEMS out there. Is Aaron Brooks any good - does he contribute to winning? Must take ball out of AB's hands - the infamous Wrongicon post Brooks or Lowry who is the answer? Keep Aaron Brooks - best one in search There will be a lot of people with a lot of crow to eat regarding Aaron Brooks. Michecon, WW2, Sam Fisher, tons of people out there underestimated his abilities. DD
everytime a team runs a lot the numbers will be inflated because the opposing team will run too. we're just not used to big numbers because the rockets have always walked the ball up and down.
This is also true......the Rockets players should have inflated numbers this year due to a faster pace. But it will also expose those players that relied heavily on a star system to get theirs. This will be a year to discern who has individual BBall skills, and which players can acclimate themselves to a different type of system. Players I expect to do well this year: AB, Ariza, Scola, Landry, Budinger, Hayes, Andersen Players I expect to struggle with the new system: Battier, Lowry, Tmac. DD
I know it's early but this guy is turning heads with his play. He's been spectacularly under control. Even his step-back fadeaways looks smoother now for some reason. I need a shirt that says AB is my homeboi.
He's going to average 20. The question is, will Scola come out of his early season funk and join him at the party.
The hate toward AB is obvious and uncalled for. It is classless and a damn shame that most of the hatred are from China. YOFs suck. The proof of the hate: Must.Take.Ball. Out.Of.Brooks'.Hands a small excerpt: Reading the thread, you can see it is true that 99% of Brooks haters are Chinese just like 99% of Rafer nut-huggers are Chinese too. why? because of too much Chinese broadcasting. There they commented nothing but Yao, Yao, Yao..... AB does not fit with Yao? so what? Yao is not the center of the universe. get over with it.
U People are weird in supporting your teams cant U just suppport the whole team really !! or have a classy argument on who should start .. Class is really rare here .. Unfortunetly ..
