Brooks got really good all of a sudden, once he found his niche. His penetration ability gives so many sharpshooters wide open looks, as demonstrated tonight in the fourth. He should run the small ball backup squad consisting of himself and DJ or Wafer because they mesh VERY well in the back court. Add in a Barry or a Battier and you've got yourself a potent shooting lineup with ALOT of good looks.

One thing I notice about this team is the depth is really what is winning games. We usually get down early, but the secondary comes in and immediatley gets the lead back, while opposing teams start to fade with subpar bench players. We have seen some great basketball so far and it is mostly our bench players doing it. Seriously, how sweet is that !

These last two preseason games have convinced me.

Aaron Brooks is the next Kevin Johnson.

Not a very good comparison beyond the small and fast similarity

KJ way better passer then Brooks will ever be, was a perennial top 10 assists guy every season

Brooks has 3 point range, KJ never had that, just a midrange jumper

I couldn't think of a better comp to a great player. Obviously, I was attempting to be facetious in that post.

he can beat pretty much anyone off the dribble, and for that, he will always find a job in the nba. i don't think he's a dependable enough defender to play 30+ minutes a night, though, so, probably career back-up. as long as he gets playing time, he will eventually learn to stay calm and play his game.

Forget about Wafer and Strawberry - both are largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. The real story here is Aaron Brooks. I can't remember the last time I found myself wanting a young player on the Rockets to succeed as badly as I do Brooks. In theory, he has everything we need at that position - penetrating ability, shooting, speed. I really hope he can keep playing at this level. I didn't watch the game today, but based on the clip Clutch posted, it seems Brooks was the catalyst for every one of Wafer's 3's.

Pretty much. Brooks' 7 of 9 assists went to Wafer.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? Just wondering because I don't see much sarcasm from you :)

Edit: NM. I should have read the following posts....

I am withholding my judgment on Brooks for now. Hoping for best that he pans out.

    FAIL

Because Barbosa is from brazil and they speak portuguese, and the hispanic term is referred to the Spanish-speaking nations of the Americas (not Brazil)
