Phoenix has no rights to call him back to the NBA under FIBA rules. Brooks has no contract. The only rights Phoenix has is IF Brooks wants to come back to the NBA, then Phoenix has dibs on him versus any other NBA team. Phoenix has zero power to tell China he must come back. It's like draft rights over a foreign player. You do not control him, you can't make him come to the NBA; but should he decide to come to the NBA, he can only negotiate with the team with draft rights.
But with Brooks if he chooses to come back he can negotiate with any team in the NBA, the only difference is Phoenix has the right of first refusal, much like Lowry when he signed with Cleveland. DD
Brooks will get an offer when he comes back to the NBA, but he'll come off the bench for sure. Lowry's and Brooks' careers are going towards opposite poles. Quite the turn of events from when we first acquired both of them.
I so much wanted some CBA teams to sign Hayes and Scola. At least I can watch them play some great basketballs.
lol Just for the heck of it, the lineup of the team he's going to join, in the order of height Wang Zheng C 7'1'' Yi Jianlian C/PF 7'0'' Su Wei C 6'11'' Dong Hanlin PF 6'9'' James Singleton PF 6'9'' Li Yuanyu PF 6'9'' Zhou Peng SF 6'9'' Ren Junfei PF 6'8'' Du Feng PF/SF 6'8'' Zhu Fangyu SF 6'7'' Wang Shipeng SG 6'5'' Liu Xiaoyu PG 6'3'' Chen Jianghua PG 6'2'' Shi Hongfei PG 6'1'' (rookie probably won't play) Aaron Brooks PG 6'0''
Well, I won't bet against Brooks to average 30 points for the coming season in the CBA. The question is who is going to make him score less???
Seriously, dude. Let's not try and equate the life of an ordinary person with NBA players. Obviously, these negotiations are an example of certain 'negative' aspects to the commodity nature of labor. But seriously, this forum should be about 'Rockets Basketball' and not the lack thereof.
Hayes-no Scola-yes All CBA teams want is offensive firepower, i cant recall them signing any NBA players who has mediocre O. Not that Hayes is bad on O, but you get what i mean.
That's correct. Three weeks ago a Chinese team signed Jarron Collins but cut him in 2 weeks for a D-league bench player because he can't score more than 15 in any preseason game.
Chuck Hayes sighting at a CBA game. Chuck Hayes was found watching the CBA season opening game for Marbury led BeiJing Ducks playing against JiLin Northeast Tigers (where ex-Wizard's Cartier Martin currently playing for). Results were 103-90 BeiJing if anyone cares. And aurocketfan and sinobball, I beg to differ, I think Hayes's intensity at the defensive end is exactly what the CBA teams and even Chinese basketball (overall) really lack of.
Aaron Brooks made his Chinese debut with 4 points on 2-9 shooting as his perennial champion team lost 92-104. The other team's PG, Stephon Marbury, had 18 points and 8 assists.
I wasn't aware that Yi Jianlian is in the team also. Anyone know if he'll be making a permanent residence in that team or coming back once the lockout ends? I wasn't following him in the NBA so I don't know if he was used much at all. Where was he last, the Wizards right?
He probably doesn't know either. Aaron Brooks arrives in China, has no idea what city he is in http://www.niubball.com/2011/11/aaron-brooks-arrives-in-china-has-no-idea-what-city-he-is-in/
