I think its clear: The rockets don't want Aaron and Aaron doesn't want the rockets sad story on how this whole thing rolled out...first the rockets wait for the extension, Aaron injury, trade talk goes around, Aaron can't get into his old self...Aaron freaks out it looks like the trade is basically mutual and almost done
The day we appreciate a flopping douche from the Spurs over our own guy is the day something is wrong. I demand an explanation from Brooks and I demand that he give 100% to this team or get out of town, BUT I don't give a can of beans about who was 'right' about Brooks and who was 'wrong', or what DD said, or how much you've never liked Brooks. Hooray, Lowry is now the starter, some of you guys "won". Great! Here's the problem: I'm not convinced that having Lowry as an undisputed starter and tossing Brooks off a cliff is the best possible outcome. Once upon a time I really liked these two as a tandem, and I hope we can get a good resolution to this issue sooner rather than later, whether it's trading Brooks for a useful piece, or Brooks having an epiphany.
Guys talking about trade value don't know what you're talking about. Just because AB is having what looks too us a bad season doesn't necessarily mean other teams see it that way. Maybe you guys were expecting that trading AB before this season or before the injury, that we would get a all-star in return. But I highly doubt thats the case. Hindsight is 20/20 and you guys would probably take a first and second round pick for him. I still think his value is just that. And Ish being called back is great news, but I doubt he gets any minutes. Lowry is gonna play 42 minutes and be out of gas at the end of the game. Thats gonna hurt us a lot if its close.
Good post. Aaron's trade value will be judged by what he is capable of more than what he has played like recently. It can work in our favor. Just because it's easy for us to throw people under the bus doesn't mean we should be swing so far in our evaluation of players' talent. PS DD would have had 24 posts in this thread by now.
Don't forget the dirty stunt with Landry. When you treat players solely as assets, don't be surprised when they don't always bend over and take it.
You answered your own question. AB's trade value bottoming out has less do to with his play on the court and more to do with the perception that the Rockets have no choice but to trade him or let him walk for nothing in return. Not that he is the same tier of player, but Denver is in a similar situation with Melo. The whole league knows Denver HAS to trade Melo or lose him for nothing. If Denver wasn't in that position and this wasn't the final year of Melo's contract, we'd be talkin about a lot more than draft picks and expiring contracts for Melo.Just as with AB, his trade value has bottomed out because we are in a position where we are forced to trade him or let him walk. Other teams know that. They know that Brooks has probably played his last game as a Rocket.
Are you people forgetting that this is a multi-billion dollar business? Of course owners and managers don't take into account personal feelings of the players, they shouldn't! The job of the players is to play how they are told to play. They don't get what they want and they freak out and we are supposed to bend over for them? No, they are getting paid millions to play a friggin game. These owners are shelling out those millions to win a championship. If you ain't bringin it, you best get to steppin cuz they don't have time for that ish. Professional athletes make me sick.
That thought crossed my mind. Brooks' bad attitude is poisonous now. Actually, it has been for weeks, where team play is a secondary matter for him. Aldeman gave him plenty of chances and one could argue that it cost us many games (bench play has been very poor because of ineffective pg play). In fact, many of us have advocated letting Ish get Brooks minutes for weeks now. I say bench Brooks until a trade is made or until he proves in practice that he can help the team. As of recently, Brooks has hurt the Rockets chances to win.
i think he gets moved to an eastern conference team before the deadline. my guess is atlanta for bibby and a future first round and second round pick. bibby of course is an adelman guy who would make a great mentor for the guards. the picks help plan for the future, and the rockets don't have to overpay brooks this summer.
It must be a lot going on behind the scenes. I love AB but is best for him and for the Team to move on. I don't think Morey is doing good with all this contact situation. He have been treating them like they are just tools for the benefit of the team, but the team is made out of players, and they need to be financial happy, and if we are not going to keep them just trade them. Creating this bad rep on contracts, will not help of future FA. Players talk to each other and this pattern won't help us recruit good players. So far, Morey have been great drafting and trading, but signing new FA is hasn't been good at all.
I guess your're right, but It with Melo the other team has to worry about him just walking in free agency. With Brooks its a bit different. Sure he can be had a less than full price, but package him with any combination of "ASSETS" we have and you could still get something pretty damn good in return.
Has anyone ever been demoted from a position at work, and before the demotion see someone under you start making like 2x your salary? Then you have to go on medical leave and your spot was taken by the same person. You come back and dont get your job back.. it affects your work.
Morey and Adelman are developing a bad rep with players, makes me worry in the future if that they would continue to let talented layers slip away for petty issues, especially when the team sucks and could use what that player brings to the table.
What if Morey just doesn't value Brooks that much as a player? Why should he give out a big contract extension to a player who's skills he doesn't highly value? Maybe that's bad judgment on his part in terms of player evaluation, but that would be different than him just not treating his players right.
