I wonder if this will go down as 'The Day AB Lost The City of Houston' Walking out on the team is definitely a new low for AB.....I've lost a lot of respect for him after this move.
Anyone have a video of him walking off the court? When I was watching the game they didnt mention him leaving or anything.
Childish thing AB did, but it can be salvaged if he simply acknowledges his frustrations and says sorry. I think most will forgive. Doesn't change the fact that he's not playing well and deserves to be on the bench right now.
I would not have walked off the court, but anyone that knows the game can see Brooks is by far better than "brick shot" Lowery. Brooks is not shooting great this season but at least he commands attention and that is good for Scola and Martin. It makes sense for him to start and be in the game at critical times to open up the court, teams don't run hard at Lowery because the is not a threat shooting the ball. MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. And before you put me on Brooks' wagon, I just want to win with the"Best" players on the court. Period. Good luck AB, I think your move was a death warrant. Potential Allstar for another team now I guess.
I know people will call me crazy, but consider a few odd things before everyone accepts that we're trading AB. 1. Morey loves driving value down in free agents before free agency starts. 2. AB's value has never been lower. 3. Lowry's value has never been higher (and will probably never be higher, since he's ultimately not a starting point guard on a good team.) I think it's unlikely that he trades Lowry before the deadline, but damn it's hard to imagine Morey trading AB this low. I do wonder how much Adelman and Morey talk and tweak lineups since we're obviously not competing for anything this year. (8th seed, 1st round exist at best.)
I do agree with the first part, to an extent the second, however, have you seen Lowery play THAT much better. If he makes A shot you know it's luck. He's had ONE great game as a starter. He's a back-up. Period. You don't generally lose your spot due to injury. Rockets are MUCH better with Brooks starting. Stats say he average 7 more points per game as a starter. We need those point...badly.
UGGH! ALL this wasted energy! AB did a STUPID & UNPROFESSIONAL thing in the midst of a DISASTER of season! Morey's trying to win in this league with a injured 7'6 guy or a midget playing center. Adelman's refusing to play the young guys despite getting his a$$ SMOKED routinely. The Rockets PR machine is working OVERTIME to convince us that we're in on Bosh, Chris Paul, And Carmelo when in reality WE'RE NOT EVEN CLOSE! I f I here one more time about our "assets" or one of you FAKE A$$ stat geeks post a chart to prove something I'M GOING TO THROW UP! If you're goin to trade Brooks FINE! But let's get on with rebuilding & stop pretending that the great Chuck Hayes and the great Shane Battier are leading us anywhere but THE LOTTERY!
You've basically lost all credibility on this forum by saying we need scoring badly and completely ignoring defense, lmao. Oh btw Lowry has been a better offensive player than Brooks for two seasons now. Is this still 1989 where we look at PPG as some sort of indicator of greatness lol?
Lowry is the all-around better player, but I'm not sure he was better than Brooks on offense last season.
I hope Twill gets some pt tonight because of this. Ish Smith is aight, but he doesnt have the upside of Williams.
He may be better as a starter, but recently he wasn't playing like it. Then he acted like a spoiled little baby by quitting like that. It was unprofessional. I understand Brooks' frustration, but the way he's dealt with it has been horrible.
Hmm, maybe... Stats can be misleading, of course. Either way, I'd rather have Lowry starting. Especially if Martin is the other guard...
At some point, you really have to start questioning Rick Adelman's ability to keep his players disciplined and in line, and get the best out of them. We never had discipline issues like this under Jeff Van Gundy, but since Adelman, we've had issues with Von Wafer, Ron Artest, Tracy McGrady, Aaron Brooks and Trevor Ariza, off the top of my head. Once upon a time, the idea that a Rockets player would walk out on his own team during a game was utterly incredulous. These days, it's almost like there is no element of surprise left, just the predictable "he's a cancer, trade him!" rants.
PER is a good indicator: 10-11: Kyle Lowry - 15.22 (not good, not bad) Aaron Brooks - 13.66 (worse) 09-10: Aaron Brooks - 15.93 (will he ever even be this "good" again?) Kyle Lowry -15.46 (consistent) We know what we are getting in Lowry: a good but not great PG that does a better job of making those around him better. We don't know what we will get with Aaron Brooks; if he isn't hitting his shots, then he is what we see today. When he is hitting his shots, he is barely better than Lowry. I guess I will take consistency with Lowry over a slightly better PG when he is at his best in Aaron Brooks.
