you know what he could have done differently. when brooks returned, he should have publicly stated:

"starting job is still aaron's. and we'll keep on moving."

if adelman publicly stated that when brooks returned, the situation would have changed drastically.

brooks may still not play well, but that sense of security and confidence from the coaching staff to back him up publicly i'm sure would speed up his recovery process.

That's why I'm not completely dissing moreyball... it has its strengths and weaknesses... but from my pov, aaron carried a lot of the offensive load, causing a lot of mismatch problems for the pg spot and fisher. And martin wasn't on the team......... this is when tmac and yao were injured. Landry and scola were solid but it was aaron that all of houston expected to hit those big threes and he did.

I really hate what its come to but both parties have reason to be upset... and fans will always side with the rockets with the "with us or against us" mentality.

bingo. both sides are at fault here. the organization and adelman could have handled this much better before it escalated to this point

and AB should not have done what he did by walking out DURING a freakin' game.

Francis was more important to the Rockets than Brooks is.

Adelman has given Brooks ample opportunities to show something but .367 shooting doesn't lie.

Yeah, we need to freak out and sell low. Sad situation.

This is a Tracy McLady style quit, on the court. This is ... I can barely type it... a Pippen style pouting quit. "Kukoc gets the last shot? I'm outta here."

I've never been convinced of AB as a real solution as a starting PG. He's just not a PG. I think in his ideal role, he's a Vinnie The Microwave Johnson type player that comes off the bench for instant offense in key mismatches next to a set of good defenders at the 2, 3 and 5. I've always thought KL is just the more well-rounded player with the mentality of a PG.

    1) JVG and francis' styles didn't match, but JVG gave francis the key basically that year. if it wasn't a trade for tmac, francis would still be there starting and playing big minutes. JVG just wanted to make it yao's team. that's all. sometimes that happens. brooks' style of play matches perfectly with adelman; and brooks exploded onto the scene last year. (i thought you meant the 2nd go round but nevertheless)

    2) how about giving him his starting job when he returned from his injury. you didn't have to give him a ton of minutes right away. that would have given him a sense of confidence from the coaching staff standpoint in brooks' eyes.

That was exactly what they did to Tmac. And it backfired. RA and Management got blamed for that as well.

When you talk about giving AB the starting job, do you consider there is another PG who played his ass off and who played much better might get pissed off? Do you consider which lineup is better for Rockets as a TEAM?

AB is by no means a superstar, he doesn't deserve to have a superstar ego.

This is going to be bad for the team.....
Ish and TWill could play and impress RA while AB's in the doghouse. Then AB comes back not only without the starting job, but without the bench job too.
AB exposed as the next big NBA head case. Unlike TMac, AB does not have a big expiring contract to generate interests from other teams. AB will be rotting at the end of the bench with absolutely zero trade value.
RA probably your only supporter left before last game, risking his own job by still trusting you and giving you playing time even though you obviously stunk. And you burnt that last bridge too.
Fine if you want to destroy your own career, but dont drag the team down with ya...

if Brooks thinks he is being undervalued, that's what free agency is for

Dang. Does everyone have to end their careers like Tmac here? Is it Adelman? Well hope we can still get something decent for him. At least he gave us a excuse why he isnt playing well now to sell to other teams. Its because he is disgruntled about not starting. So now we can sell him that achange of scenary may bring his game back to his normal level.

I am very disappointed in how the organization has handled. AB, Tmac, Yao, Ariza, Landry, and Steve Francis. I really think they need to step back and reexamine themselves as a organization before the players around the league start to see this as how they run things for reasons our players are involved in these types things over and over. Very disappointed.

They either need to trade these guys or shut their mouths about what they are gonna do and who they might trade. These idiots keep allowing their secrets out in public and mishandling these players.

We need to get rid of Adelman not brooks, this guy is running off all our talent with his stubbornness yet everyone sides with him when we have a 24-28 record...LOL

I agree that it's Adelman who's the problem. We end up getting rid of a lot of talent just because Rick is arrogant and pompous.

Yeah and our 24-28 record is not just because of Adelman. The Rockets are not as talented as many of you think.

Just to play devil's advocate, WHAT IF HE REALLY HAD TO TAKE A DUMP? I mean, I wouldn't want to **** myself on the bench in front of thousands of fans and video cameras to boot. It would be all over youtube!
