once we have these babies. . . SCREW THE HUMAN PLAYERS!! no more emotion in the players or the game. . . WWWHHHHHOOOOOWWWWEEE!!! Rocket River
Remind me again, who was the one over-dribbling in crunch time and forcing up bad shots while ab was out due to the injury. Dude was hurt a quarter of he season and struggled to come back. Doesn't excuse what he did, but he won quite a few games last year with a less talented team, not to mention we were above .500. Now what is the record this year?
This situation is actually pretty simple: Regardless of what reasons you may have come up with to walk off the court DURING a game, it's not something that you do. In fact, it's not only something you don't do, it's something you don't even CONSIDER doing. It shows a huge lack of maturity and leadership qualities. I've been an AB fan, and I still think he'll be a good player in this league. But after this, I'd rather not have to root for him on my team.
We are no Cleveland Cavaliers, so I really don't know what Brooks is sooking about. Threatened by Kyle Lowry's dominance on the floor I say...
Who's next year's punching bag? I can't make any predictions. I sure didn't see this Aaron Brooks thing coming.
Obviously Brooks doesn't have the mental fortitude to be part of our team. Hope we can get something back for him. He thinks he is too big for his britches I guess.
AB and Williams are really tight, having grown up together. I'm guessing that there's a lot of griping going on when they're together about RA. We need to get rid of AB soon and give Williams some burn so we can see what he can do before AB creates a real cancer in the locker room. AB has a real entitlement complex. He thinks he's entitled to his starting job after coming back from the injury. But even before the injury he couldn't guard *anyone*. Lowry plays both sides of the ball. A broader view of this situation is that you can't have this many players at the 1-3 positions without making some of them disgruntled. I hope Morey converts some of these assets into some two-way players soon.
J-Fei throwing down some good replies: http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2011/02/rockets_find_a_way_to_win_in_o.html
The only players AB is effectively competing with over PT are KL and KM, and with the level of inconsistency he's showing, he can't beat those two on the starting unit or for PT. It's created by having two starter-quality PGs. You think KL will be happy going back to the bench? No way, but I think he will respond by leading the bench and showing up the starting unit, as he was doing last year.
Agreed... ... Even though many people here won't admit it, he was a key part of our surprising team last season, AND our run in 08-09. Sad to see what's happening with him right now. I really hope he turns it around. I think at first it was physical, but I think it's mostly mental now since the injury. I mean he started the season out pretty strong.
LOL. DD gets owned by everyboy. Last year DD slammed hard on Tmac in similar situation, now he's making excuse for AB. Last year DD showed 0 patience on Ariza for his performance, now he shows way more patience on AB despite he performed much worse than Ariza.
I was killing Adelman for the Utah game, playing AB instead of Martin should have cost us the game against an extremely shorthanded team. Feigen pretty much nailed it, he has given AB plenty of time to regain his spot...even to a fault.
He knows walking off is a no-no, apparentlY he WANTS to be traded and is throwing a temper tantrum. He wants the team to make a decision him or Lowery. This could come back to haunt us cuz he's a very talented player and can put up some points, but I say give him what he wants. Traded him to the highest bidder.
man the more i think about it the more it upsets me I cant think of the last time a player did this and just quit and went to the locker room like that. McGrady did quit but he still stuck by the team and then was asked by the team to stay at home etc. Wafer was essentially booted to the locker room by the coach for whatever arguments they had...still terrible but at least whatever issue it was hard to say that Wafer 'quit on the team' he argued an wasnt following the coach's game plan during a playoff game and coach didnt want to deal with any of it. Wafer was being stupid and arguing in a playoff game..I wouldnt necessarily say he quit on his teammates, though he did hurt his teammates but doing/saying whatever he did forcing adelman to send him to the locker room. aaron just up and left his teammates high and dry in one of the most critical games of the year if the Rockets are seriously still thinking playoffs. He didnt argue with the coach or anything, even if he did argue and coach said hit the showers at least then it would be on adelman too. Of course both scenarios are terrible and poor judgment on the part of Brooks (and 2 seasons ago, Wafer) but to just head back to the locker room like that. I can only imagine what the rest of the team is really feeling about this guy now, i mean seriously next practice he has with the team whats he going to say how is he going to say anything. A fake apology will be typed up by his agent and will be "accepted" on the front by the rockets org and coaching staff as the "correct" thing to do but will it really make a difference where it matters- on the court? I mean its one of the cardinal sins in sports to quit on your teammates..I am still shocked that he did what he did seems almost unimaginable. It just brings up so many other questions in my mind right now did brooks really want to be option 1 aka the leader of this team? He is a gifted offensive player but he cannot be "the man" if your team aspirations are to win a championship. A few weeks ago he didnt make the trip out to Orlando because of a quick flare up in his ankle but now it seems so sudden and weird wonder if it was a "flare up" in practice that the team just covered up (they are pretty good at keeping things under wraps) - wonder if he didnt go out but said something like i am not going to play anymore but stayed on the bench if Feigan would have tweeted that he wasnt going to denver to 'rest his ankle' I do understand his frustrations but after seeing what happened with McGrady last season he should know that the Coach will always put winning ahead of anything else and will not give a guy more minutes just because he feels he can play more. If aaron played better he would have played more and possibly gotten his starting job back, but not he played like ****. If it was due to his injury then he should have further just taken a step back to rehab it till its 100% then trying to rush back and forcing him to play bad. good god seriously this type of action really puts him on the level of mcgrady and pippen when it comes to warranted hate/anger but at least both pippen and mcgrady were far superior players and much was expected out of both of them to help carry the team...there was far less expected of brooks. (at least in my eyes) and he still quit. we dont need those type of players on the rockets, it just becomes hard for me to root for guys like that and its sad when you think how lately this team was full of guys who would never quit and we'd always hang our hat saying..they played their asses off but just didnt have that star/talent on there but you know they played their asses off and never quit out there. thats what i was most proud of as a rockets fan despite their poor record and performances over the last few years what brooks did just sort of stabs in the heart as a fan.
Another good reply of Jonathan from Chron.com: (I don't know what Adelman could have done differently. He played a guy far more minutes and in far more critical times than his performance warrants. The idea that he should automatically start after six weeks out is ridiculous. He wasn't ready to start then. He was still sore, still struggling. And when he played, he did not play well. It's never about one player; it's about the team. Though I also believe Brooks will regain last season's level of play, I would fault Adelman for showing too much patience. -- Jonathan)
No he didn't. 1. Cleveland is the laughing stock of the league, not us. 2. This team is 24-28 and is probably going to miss the playoffs AGAIN. This isn't all Brooks fault. When your team has a LOSING record and has had one the ENTIRE season, one guy is not entirely at fault. All 15 guys bear some responsibility for that record.
