This.. I think after he had that good 4th quarter game, he shouldve been inserted back into the starting role. Then I believe he wouldve gotten better. Now he basically lost it.
Sorry but I don't blame aaron for being upset at his situation. Yes, he shouldn't have walked off but the whole mentality of moreyball is not good for winning basketball. He treats every player more like assests than players. You should be smart with your payroll but aaron did a lot for us vs the lakers and was the largest reason why it went to seven games. He was cold blooded night in and night out that season and we didn't offer him an extension. If you were at a job where you carried the load (offensively) and you didn't get a raise... and your backup is making more money than you... you realize your worth to the company.... which is nothing more than numbers in a book. Fans are so quick to judge someone and turn their backs but everyone here would've given him the extension after that lakers series.
Ignoring the fact that Brooks didn't carry the load( he played his part, just as Landry, Martin, Scola, all played their parts), doesn't this just mean that the Rockets management is smart enough to avoid a Mike James situation and not throw huge money at the guy who's had one good year/playoff series?
if that ended up being all Morey could do, I think i would be content with that; although its hard to believe that just a few months ago AB was being talked about as the center piece of a deal to bring in players like Melo and Paul.
Because most people when they come back can perform at the same level unless it is some physically demanding job (like say, playing basketball). Brooks had to be worked back in slowly. Does anyone think his minutes were too little considering his performance? RA was giving him as many minutes as he dared to work off the rust and still not cost us games. Brooks has no right to be angry at the way he was treated. It was all in the interest of the team. Now, he may be angry at his unfortunate circumstances, as I think we all are/were. But he gets payed millions to play basketball, his anger does not justify his destructive behavior. The question is, did the vets and coaching staff make the effort to help Brooks channel his frustrations appropriately, or were they caught off guard. "Hey Aaron, it sucks getting injured during a contract year, but you can't control that. Just keep working hard and playing within yourself and within the system. RA will give you minutes to get back in form, but we also need to balance that with winning games. If it's not happening for you on a given night, we may need to play you less depending on how the game is going. I've seen players get frustrated before and behave unprofessionally, look what happened to PLAYER X and PLAYER Y, you don't want to end up like them. Just do what we ask and give your best effort and we will continue to support you. We know your value, other teams know your value. If you try and do too much too soon, you will only damage that."
My point is that without this "incident" AB would have commanded something dcent on his own. We wouldnt have to bribe people with a package to get them to take him off our hands out of pitty.
what's with all the "mental instability" "headcase" comments? Yeah, he's frustrated and yeah he's acting immature but I would hardly call him unstable or a headcase. He got star treatment was really dedicated to the team but let the trade rumors get to him. He obviously feels betrayed. Wouldn't be the first rocket to feel that way. Horry, Cassell, Maxwell, Sam Mack, Matt Maloney, Scotty Brooks, Hakeem Olajuwon, Francis, Mobley, T-mac, Von Wafer.. I think Landry is the only ex-Rocket who hasn't really let it be shown that he feels betrayed or maybe he is the only one who actually realizes that sh!+ happens.
I think it has less to do with the minutes and reduction, but that the reason seems to be because he doesn't work well with Kevin, couple that with the fact he wanted an extension of a similar contract size to Martin and you have one annoyed little backseat midget.
This whole situation is unfortunate, even though AB definitely brought it upon himself. It was just a few weeks ago that AB was the hero of the Celtics' game, joking around on NBA TV with Brent Barry afterward. Of course...he was a starter for that game. Sad that he can't be a professional and team player and just go out there and play his hardest.
Sucks because we are flirting with the lottery once again and could use someone that can get you 20 points a game, not to mention he's deadly from 3.
Yeah, because half a season of evidence trumps two years worth? We don't need 'offense', we need a closer. Someone that we can give the the ball to and have them create or get a good shot for us down the stretch. The only person capable of that on this team is Aaron Brooks. He's just having a down year. He started out okay, but the ankle injury combined with Lowry emerging as the starter has really done a number on him, mentally. It's not like the previous two years were flukes; he's just never regained the confidence he once had (at first due to injury, then due to his role on the team). What he did was inexcusable and probably stamped his ticket out of town. It's unfortunate, because he's got a lot of talent offensively and is the only person on the team that can get off his own shot at a good %.
sad to see it come to this. both parties are reaching a point of no return. i like brooks, and hopefully he'll find another team and be successful.
Yeah, a closer, a guy over-dribbling in crunch time and then rushing to shoot....ignoring wide open teammates, as usual. What can a r****ded IQ player, who have nil court vision, create? you can say he can score, not create... "He's just having a down year." ? AB not even in his best shape, had at least decent court vision.....when his shot is off, he won't realize it.
So just walking out of work one day without telling your boss is the right thing to do to earn your position back.
I'm talking about BEFORE this situation, matter fact I JUST said But, Commodore you made some good points, but I dont think he feels wanted or apart of the future.
