Last years summer league he was great, this year I wasn't very impressed. During the regular season he was spotty, so hopefully this year he'll turn a corner. He'll be a quailty backup, IMO. I'd put him in a trade package for the right player, my gut tells me he'll never be a star.

Don't see NBA starter from Brooks...not that its a bad thing...a great change of pace guard off the bench brings alot to the table for any team. Think his size will limit his effectiveness on defense over the long run.

I think Brooks will be more of a Earl Watson at type of player, a starter tht can put up numbers but isn't really established as an all star

I like the way he played at the end of the season when rafer was out. i was really hoping Adelman would have just given him the start and bring in jackson who is a backup type of guy. he plays the game like a backup.

Brooks number at the end of the year.

I think the more minutes he get, the better he will play. his size at that position isnt a great concern of mine. When you consider billups, williams, miller, davis, kidd and a certain extent old man cassell are the only post up pg's in the entire league.

His assists and assist-to-turnover ratio was about tops in the summer league, and that was both his and the organization's stated goal for him. Also had the nice little game-winning play.

Seemed much better in summer league this year, to me, but it doesn't mean much until we see if he gets off the pine in the regular season.

A Brooks is very light so that keeps him from being a very good D player but there is no other faster and quicker player than him on our team.

Remember during the season when Rockets were close to deadline, they received a very good offer for Brooks but Morey declined it.

It is still early to talk about his future but he is certainly a decent NBA player and if no major injuries slow him down in my opinion he will be a good NBA player.

I think Brooks is going to become our starting point guard, if not this year, then next year. And I think he will be an upgrade over Rafer, with more offensive firepower, better shooter, better finisher. No, he won't be up there with Christ Paul and Deron Williams. I don't care. You can't expect to be better than everybody at every position on the floor. In our defensive scheme, he will get plenty of help and his defensive quickness playing the passing lanes is going to lead us to easy buckets, not to mention his speed and quickness in transition. I think he is a great fit for the Adelman offense. I would expect he becomes our Mike Bibby, with the ability to shoot from distance and a better ability than Bibby to get to the rim and finish in traffic.

Nice post. That is a very good example.

I remember Cassell driving to the basket & dishing to Dream as a rookie & can't help wishing Brooks could show some of that. With his quickness he should be able to drive more, but is he tough enough to go inside with the big boys. Of course, as many have said in this thread, he's got to be on the floor to have a chance to develop his game.

Earl Watson, if nothing else, is a solid defensive PG. Brooks isn't particularly good on either end at this point.

I was a big Brooks supporter early last season, but he hasn't matured like I hoped. He's old for a 2nd year player, so the coming season is somewhat make or break for him. He has to show significant strides.

No doubt about it.His problem is that he is still learning how to play at the 1. Getting stronger ala Boykins or Earl Watson can help him defensively.

Moochie was Steve's buddy, and therefore got the big contract to keep Steve happy. He was a crowd favorite with the big hair, but never the coach's. His over-dribbling drove me crazy.

Aaron was who Adelman wanted in last year's draft. Rick was convinced he was the kind of PG who could do well with the rule changes, after watching him all year. He then impressed everyone with the best play in Summer League, like Bayless is doing this summer. Then on the Olympic select team, impressed Kobe and Lebron, while actually beating the first team a few times.

... but disappeared during this last year.

In a Morey radio interview, Daryl said that Adelman was expecting Aaron to make the biggest improvement this coming year.

So ... I figure Adelman knows what he wants, and sees what he sees. It sounds like Aaron should become a starter from that perspective ... eventually.

... but, other than that, I'm clueless, although it sounds like Adelman thinks he'll be way better than Moochie.

If the truth be told Moochie wasn't good enough to even be the backup Point Guard on any NBA Team of Quality! :p

At this moment, AB is better than Moochie of the last few years with the Rockets but he is not a starter yet. I doubt he can be a starter in the coming season unless Rafer is out.

Brooks is a legit point guard that i strongly believe that one day will be on his prime.

I didn't know that Moochie could do alley-oop dunks

Brooks has a long wing span and is a good shooter. Moochie was a scrub so this is a very bad comparison.

At his best, I could see Brooks being like 6 man of the year. Kinda that Mike James role of coming off the bench and providing a spark while resting the big guns. Overall, i think he will be a serviceable backup pg for a good number of years, and may even get good enough to start for a bottom dweller team.

Moochie, could only go left before the big contract and only left after the contract. Another dumb signing by CD along with Cato and host of others.

AB would blow by Moochie all day everyday. AB needs to learn the midrange game that Murph and Cassell have perfect. The 15ft jumper is his friend. After a hitting a couple of those, then try a 3.

Moochie was all Fonde every summer, however, it never translated to the Rockets.

That's what I've said all along. If Brooks can get that full speed pull up on a dime 15 fter, he would basically be unstoppable. I mean, KJ was great and once he had that shot going, it was a long night. Brooks needs that shot which I called the mezzanine area. Just like in arenas, its not the top bowl or the lower bowl, it perfectly situated in the middle. He penetrates and right before Yao's man is about to come up for help, he pulls up and knocks down the jumper. That's the shot he has to be good at. That's why I was hoping to either go with Brooks or trade for mo williams who is deadly from that area.

I'm confident in saying right now that Brooks will be a superstar compared to moochie norris. I don't think he got the offense in his first year. But I think with a year under his belt he will be closer to taken the reigns of the Rockets and people will finally realize why we backed out last year when Sac asked for him in the Artest deal.
