okay, i read everyones posts and i missed game 1.

so...Aaron brooks has potential but is still a rookie? If we dont lose game 1, i dont think much of that will be mentioned.

Lets just face it, he's got what it takes to be a Jazz hanger.

Rack him, game 2 jitters will only be half effective on his performance.

not this year, he is too small to guard deron and lack the strength to go into the jazz's front line for a drive. Maybe next year he will become the next cp3

AB zero wont become CP3 but what a perfect world it would be if that would happen next year.

AB showed sign in the 4th quarter, driving and dishing or finishing around the basket. I think RA should take a gamble and start Brooks the next game. I think we need Jackson coming off the bench. And to those who say that AB can't guard Derron Williams; no one else is able to guard him either.

I'm all for giving AB more time if Jackson continues to play like a dog, but when Deron Williams wanted to score, AB couldn't stop him. AB's effort was good and he got to the basket a couple of times in the 4th quarter. But if AB gets a lot of minutes, we are toast. Then again, if Bobby doesn't improve we may as well lose with AB out there.

And that's my problem with AB as your starting PG. He's just too small to match up against the PGs we'll face in the West. As I said many times before, this will have to be addressed in the off season by Morey.

aaron brooks problems does have a solution that might work. he has to bulk up and still be quick.. if that's possible. then he can hold his ground, and then use alot of his upper body strength along with his quickness to get to the basket and finish strong.

    Brooks has enormous potential offensively.

The question is whether he can be effective enough on defense to allow his net effect on the game to be a positive.

Only time will tell. He will get plenty of chances over the next year or two to prove himself as a complete player, worthy of a starting role.

This is why I see Brooks being a bench player for his career. He doesn't have a distributor mentality, he's a scorer. I can't see him as a starting PG where what we need is not only someone who can shoot, but also defend AND be the floor general. Right now, I don't see Brooks as that kind of a player. I think he could be like a Leandro Barbosa for us.

Brooks is the worst defender out of him Rafer and BJax by FAR. Deron can just rise up and shoot over him. You Brooks huggers need to check with reality.

You may very well be right. He may end up being a quality backup. I think this is a worst case scenario given his outstanding speed, ballhandling, scoring ability and outside shooting.

As far as being a great distributor, that is not always as important as people think. Three of the best distributors of all-time never won a championship (Kidd, Nash, Stockton) while a sub-par distributor like Tony Parker won 3. Fisher won with LA and he is not a great distributor. Miami won it all with mostly J Will and Wade running the point.

If Brooks doesn't cut it as a starter, I don't think it will have much to do with his passing abilities.

    Only time will tell.

Bobby Jackson is maybe 1 inch taller than Brooks. Plus, Brooks has a larger wingspan and bigger hands. The only reason Jackson may contest shots better than Brooks at this point is experience. Brooks can gain experience.

Iverson became a decent defender in this league despite his small stature. You may be right about Brooks, but it is too early to give up on him. One thing is for sure, he will get the chance to prove himself over the next couple of years.

Lets not put too much hope/hype into a ROOKIE of all players. I'd be very surprised if Brooks became the "Jazz Killer".

You'd all be extremely pissed right now had Francis or Spanoulis given the type of performance that Brooks turned in last night. What gives Brooks a free pass?

He doesn't get a free pass. But considering he's a rookie out of college there is hope he will get better.

He'll get better but remember in the preseason when T-Mac said Brooks was fast that nobody could really stop him but he was the only teammember that never made any of his baskets during the scrimmages. That's what I remember.

That being said, BJax and Scola and really poor shooting nights. I didn't mind Novak being out there but for God's sake if you are going to put the man out there, give him the ball and let him shoot it.

Iverson still can't guard a chair and is one of the reasons Denver is so bad defensively. BJax is taller than Brooks and he's big enough to not get pushed around. Brooks can barely reach his hand to D-Will's face when he shoots.

Deron had a hard time guarding Brooks, as vice versa....

For Some reason, I think Brooks did better than Jackson.. I wouldnt start Brooks but I think Adelman should play Brooks and just make him drive and pass to defenders... the only problem I saw with Brooks last nmight was how he picked the ball up waaay behind the 3 point line for no reason whatsoever

A 14% shooting effort deserves more time for sure. In scrub time when we have a 20 pt lead.
