Nae I put Deron in top 5 PGs at most. Raja Rondo, Nash, Chris Paul, Baron Davis, Iverson (maybe) are doing a pretty good job as well.
Btw I forgot to mention. The point I was trying to get at was run brooks on deron. Since Deron is already injured, the guy cannot play as much, as a matter of fact run as much. Brooks run...forever. He has a high stamina, and plays smartly as well. His game against Phoenix was probably his best game. He faked players out, he dominated steve nash. What we're trying to do is to exploit our PG bench. Make Deron run as much as possible, and he'll start feeling the pain after 1-2 games. Its impossible for anyone to not feel any strain at all if you have to run around with Brooks. And to add that Deron's tailbone is injured.....
but brooks is just a rookie, we can't expect much from him. i expect more from Scola and Landry even though they are rookies, but that is because Scola is not your typical rookie at 27, and Landry's game should not be as effected by playoff pressure since he scores mostly off dunks. brooks has to run and offense. create, and hit long range shots.
Lol we weren't expecting too much from him when we played him on steve nash right? But look how much impact Brooks had on the floor.
Brooks and Jackson or Alston have proved to be an effective backcourt when we go small and quick. I can see Adelman bringing them on when the Jazz have a smaller SG in there. Until Alston returns, I think we'll also see Head getting some time next to McGrady as well. But if Luther shows the same problems with the traps like he did last year, I can see Adelman trying Brooks in there. As for Fisher, IIRC he got a lot of his playing time at SG next to Deron Williams last playoffs. He'd switch over to PG when Williams took a rest, which was infrequent.
But remember Deron has a hurting assbone, and he was deadly last year because he was fresh all the time. He will be getting minimal rest this year against rockets since their backup PG is not nearly as efficient as Fisher.
I'm not sure if he's really that hurt though. He said he missed that second half of the Spurs game as a precautionary measure more than anything else. There are no reports since about his injury or of his being too sore to practice. So I don't know how much we can count on it being a factor.
I thought this thread wasnt as much about this series, but about Brooks being a Jazz killer for the future, a la Nate McMillian being a Rockets killer with Seattle, Jason Terry with the Mavs, or Derek Harper with Dallas/New York. Its certainly possible, he has a solid jumper and is lightning quick. I'd like to see some flashes this postseason, but with experience he will become more deadly.
Thank you for putting this thread back in order. Is so easy for one particular thread to spin off in different tangents. I agree with ur post 100%.
Its all about Flashing Lights.... Steve Novak aka Flashing Lights. "As I recall, you love to show OFF...but I never thought you take it this Far" Go listen to that song...it has NOTHING to do with an NBA player...but i just made up the name for Novak...so everytime he takes a 3...say... FLASHING...LIGHTS!!!!
Well hurt or not, Brooks would still be an interesting matchup for Deron. The aim is to tire Deron out. Deron ain't a T-mac, he can't put up 40 minutes per game and still be a good player. Since we all know Deron relies on strength, he won't be near as effecient a player as he was last year now that they have to leave him on the floor for longer periods since fisher is gone and their backup PG a non impact player. Also, Brooks lightning quickess should tear down Utah defense. In a way, I can imagine him cutting pass AK47 and Boozer then passing the ball out to battier for a wide open 3. He will only improve, and Brooks, despite being a rookie, has made tons of game winners in his college years. So he is bound to know what the intensity in playoff is like. By the way, Brooks has been productive ever since Yao gone out. All the minutes he got he proved he deserved it. He'll be striving for more.
