"2. Ron Artest, Lakers: Critics say he is older and has lost a step. I say when he's dialed in, he's still the leauge's best perimeter defender. (Last week: 1)"

Why don't they ask Lebron for his thoughts?

So for MVP running they hint at LBJ possibly winning MVP and DPOY, but in the list for DPOY watch, Lebron's not even listed (and rightly so). I'm glad they mention Dream but it's so inconsistent it's not really worth reading.

I think its funny. Watch Artest make defensive first team this year.

Pathetic. It's all because of who he plays for and not how he plays.

It's mind boggling, when actually played better defense last year, he didn't come anywhere close to 1st team.

Come on. Show some love for Scola. Those numbers produce by the Tango master after the all star break are MVP numbers, not just all-star numbers.

Adding Ron Artest has made the Lakers the number 1 defense. Stop hating on him.

    Still Dwight is clearly superior.

Luis scola could be in the conversation but he's really only been beasting for the last few weeks.

I think the poster meant at least someone from the rockets is getting mentioned, not that he felt someone other than brooks should be mentioned too.

thats a no-brainer the thing that stuck out in that article to me is artest bein 2nd behind Howard in the defensive player of the year voting, thats a dam joke,
rons the SAME defender he was when he played for us but becuz hes with the la fakers hes gettin the hype i hate how the media jock ride the big market teams its pathetic

the other thing that rubs me the wrong way is how RA is tied for 5th in the Coach of the Year race with memphis head coach.. thats laughable RA should be higher its a sham how we get over-looked this is why I hate watchin espn theyre a bunch of east coast biased pricks

Now only if those so-called experts would actually watch a lot Rockets games, they'd know Lowry might be improved even more than Brooks.

How do you measure "improve"? I think it should be actual impact instead of stats increase due to increased minutes and offensive role change.

The impact difference between last season and this season for Lowry is bigger than the impact difference between last season and this season for Brooks.

The impact of Brian Cook is bigger than Lowry and Brooks combined if you actually watched the game. I think.

    You are being childish.

Look at how Rockets lost to bad teams as soon as they lost Lowry and started to win as soon as he came back. Look at the +/- difference between last year/this year for Lowry and +/- difference between last year/this year for Brooks, to say Lowry improved more is not something without proof.

Meida guys only look at box scores and highlights, reputations and limited games played on national TVs. That's why Kobe was voted 1st defensive teams so many times and that's why Artest is about to be 1st defensive team again after he joined Lakers.

I like Aaron Brooks but the Most IMproved player this year is Russell Westbrook.

That is a straight up a bizarre notion.

The reason why guys like Lowry and Scola don't get the nod for this award is because they haven't really improved to that great of a degree. Have they grown as players, obviously, but compared to the rapid growth that Brooks has gone through to become the team's leading scorer for most of the year, is fan-ish thinking. Brooks has gone from a nobody late 1st round selection, to arguably the most successful point guard coming out of his draft.

No one on the Rockets team deserves the MIP award more then Brooks, that is just a fact. The man has nearly doubled his average points and assists per game compared to last season and has at times carried this team with his scoring, Lowry while very good for the team isn't nearly that much better then his previous season.

Wow, I figured the Brooks' naysayers might bring up other deserving players from other teams but never thought they'd go so far as to try to use another Rocket not named Landry to try and replace him. The animosity truly runs deep.

Yes, I'm sure if Brooks had gone down instead, and Lowry had to play 45 minutes a night without the best scorer on the team (or w/o Ariza for that matter), the Rockets would have kept right on winning without missing a beat.

You know I think Trevor ariza might actually be instead. If those stupid experts actually watched the games they would know the rockets lost a lot of games when trevor went out.
