Leeb, Come on, this trade him to the Kings nonsense is silly. 1. We don't know what the new CBA will allow 2. It expires BEFORE you could do anything you are talking about. 3. The Rockets like Aaron Brooks. DD
They like him, they just don't like him enough to pay 8m. The new labor agreement will be worked out and the player salaries and years will be shaved a little. The new deal will be 4 yrs vs 5 or bird rights 5. The max number will be 14m with 6% raises. Why do you think the the spurs did parkers deal? They know what the deal is going to come down at long term. The agents also have a very good idea about where it will come down at. In regards to the kings,he's their #1 target next yr. They believe with evans and the passing abiliy of cousins, he is the perfect fit as a vet, but a young vet. Also, garcia is a pretty good ball handler when healthy. The kings don't have anyone up for a big extension yet, so signing brooks to his deal wont be that bad.Repeat, he is their #1 target. Trust me on that one.
Of course they like him, he is a very good NBA point guard, who wouldn't like him other than people who don't understand his role on this team. DD
Aaron Brooks reminds me of Mike James in Toronto Only looking to score with no bball brain. Mike James 05-06 20.3pts 3.3reb 5.8ast .469 fg% .44 3P% Aaron Brooks 09-10 19.6pts 2.6reb 5.6ast .432 fg% .398 3p%
7 assists a game more than a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio....... He needs to pick it up on his shooting to silence the Brooks haters. DD
He's playing himself out of a contract right now, IMO. I'm less interested in whether he can machine gun himself to 20 points than I am if he can run an offense, facilitate the scoring of others, and defend to a reasonable (even if that is below average) degree. I'll note that Lowry's contract offer was made with the idea that he'd be a starting (if fringe starter) PG. What Aaron wants and what I'd value him as being worth are probably very different numbers. I would let him walk if he wants more than $7M per.
He needs to forget about his shooting and focus on being a real PG and not being a swinging door on defense. I like him, but I'm concerned that he needs to be a shoot 'em up combo guard on a crummy team to thrive.
That's why he is better suited as a bench spark. He won't be asked to run the offense nor distribute the ball. All he has to do is score the ball whiles the starter rests.
I honestly don't think he will be offered more than $6-7 million a year. Coaches and general managers around the league recognize his skill but they also realize his shortcomings. He won't get the big money his offensive stats alone might make some thing he deserves. They've seen the Aaron Brooks movie before when it was called Leandro Barbosa. They only want to watch the movie again for the matinee price.
Different matter, Yao only played in 2 of those games..... I think Yao's limited minutes is adversely effecting the team more than anything else....and believe that playing him ZERO minutes would be better for the team rather than every now and then 24 minutes. Can't get cohesion with Yao in and out of the lineup....time to crap or get off the pot. DD
I like AB, love the positives he brings to the game-- which is why I'd like to see him as our energizer, scoring, back-up to KM. The strengths of his game aren't prototypical PG. He's more the "Microwave." I doubt we'll see him in this role, though, since this is his contract year, and RA doesn't seem too fast to make changes that might disrupt chemistry, even when the chemistry is bad.
