So while everyone else is arguing over the game clock in the Rockets-Blazers game (get over it, it was a great game and an unbelievable shot), I thought maybe the Aaron Brooks story was getting slept on. The Rockets are clearly much more offensively dynamic with Brooks in the game. Yeah, I understand his defense is shaky at best and I'm not saying we should start him. But if there were any indication that RA had confidence in Brook's ability to perform under pressure, it was last night in overtime. Our offense is much more fluid and unpredictable with Brooks running point. Whenever Rafer sets us up, I feel like I would have an easier time staying awake watching CNN. Anyone else excited to see Yao-Artest-Battier-McGrady-Brooks on the floor at once? We would pretty much dominate inside, outside, everywhere in between and on both sides of the court.
Brooks has no clue how to play like a pure PG like Rafer Alston. If he did know, Start him, since not, Just let him be a spark off the bench. Something Head was never able to do.
Brooks deserves a starting position and over 20min game time, at least in the regular season. Is adelman considering playing him in the playoff? now it's time for brooks to gain some experience for the playoffs, because rafer has already shown his decrease evidently. The young PGs have taken the place of the veteran PGs, and rafer is also going to be replaced by brooks. Rafer considers himself 23 but he's actually 32 now.
Brooks played almost 28 minutes last night. Alston played 26. Defensive rebounding and team defense are bigger issues than PG play right now. Having said that, I have no problem with Alston and Brooks splitting minutes. Better yet, Adelman should go with the hot hand or use matchups to dictate who is on the floor.
He's better off the bench. I say that he keeps comign off the bench, but plays the minutes of a starter (like Ginobili).
Brooks 20+ minutes every game? No thanks, especially when we're playing teams with big PG like Davis and D-Will. If he plays 20+ minutes in the Clippers game, that might have lost us the game. Rafer's defense especially in the 2nd half was a key to hanging on.
Aaron Brooks hardly deserves to be the backup, what makes you think he deserves more than 20 minutes then?
AB should have played more last night, but we won, so let the guy who can't shoot his way out of a wet paper bag play when we play the patsies, but let Brooks play when we need to compete with the big boys. DD
We won BECAUSE in part of Rafer's ability to contain Davis in the 2nd half. Brooks playing more in Clippers game means we give up more points because BDiddy would destroy. The sooner you acknowledge that, the better.
Yeah he is immature. That's why despite his growth, he has a long way to go. Though sometimes his immature play is good... But when we play a team like the Jazz, they will laugh at him. Hopefully he will learn as much as he can from Barry and get the hoops IQ he needs to be a well-rouned PG.
What the hell are you talking about........."hardly deserves to be the backup" Have you even been watching Houston play this season?
brooks as a backup is good. he cant do wat rafer does. but he can stil get the startin pg role if he gets that good. if not o well, hes a very good backup.
Im all for AB playing 20+ mins in certain matchups even start, but last night's game is that kinda game AB would get destroyed on the defensive end. Baron is simply too strong for him.
yeah,Barry will be a good teacher for free,Brooks should study hard off the board, and show them on the board
