A Truce between Yao-only and Steve-only fans... please?

It was a simple question.

You made the same post 3 or 4 times and twice in one thread then you posted another of you earlier post again in another thread.

We read it the first time, no need to post the same thing multiple times.

 

Listen, this is not yao's team. He has been on it for one year and steve has been on it for 4. Steve is an allstar based on his ability not nationality. I think yao is gonna be a great center soon, but he is nowhere near as respected in the nba as franchise. Franchise is the team leader and will continue to be even when yao does break out. He is much more vocal and players rally around him. Yao will hopefully get to that point some day, but it won't be while stevie is still playing on the rockets. Many of you wish that yao was the team leader but he isn't. Quit kidding yoursleves. You sound stupid when you say that this is yao's team.

Lets just put it this way - assuming Yao says he wants Francis or JVG gone or he is gone guess what will happen?

It is a bonafide non-issue - THIS TEAM IS YAO's. Stop allowing your emotions to delude and 'fuul' you.

 

There are morons on the Spurs board I'm on that bicker over Manu vs. Parker. Not many but it's annoying. From what I've read the problem seems to be bigger here.

So...to Stevie homers or Yao homers, try to see the big picture:

You've got two near superstars on your squad that are young. One's a big man, one's a guard. They can co-exist. Why on earth would you feel anything but supportive for both players? For anyone on your roster??

Hell, Robert Horry's a Spur now and I'm rooting for him. Simply because he wears the silver and black.

 

I never will understand why you guys waste your time on stupid arguments that don't matter at all. Just drop it, because there's no way one side or the other is gonna win. The Yao fans are gonna stick with Yao, and nothing anyone says is gonna change their minds. It's not going to end, so just give it up. Steve and Yao aren't arguing about it, in fact they've never even brought it up, but their fans are? It's just flat out ignorant.

 

BTW, I just saw gospursgo's post, and even though he only has 7 posts he put half you "know-it-all" Senior Members to shame as far as common sense goes. He knows what it means to be a fan, so maybe you should listen to him.

 

Very true, what JustB and gospursgo said - this is going to take time. Winning championships is not easy - that is why 5 teams have one the last 15 NBA championships, all with the pretty much the same core group of guys, with some minor exceptions.

We should be thrilled to have two such young talented guys, who play hard, seem to like each other, and seem like decent guys themselves. Expectations are high, maybe too high right now. Look at the impact players that those 5 teams had - all were well into their careers when they won their first title - even Jordan. Thomas - ten, Jordan - six, Olajuwon - nine, O'Neal & Bryant - six & three?, (exception) respectively. Realistically, what do we want? I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd be happy with one championship out of this era. But I think that the core is capable of more of that. And for that to happen you can not expect guys this young to do it. The fun part is that both of them have been so outstanding at times, it's imaginable to see a multi-NBA championship winner.

I do wish Yao would spend the majority of a summer or two in the US, going through that grind with NBAers and near-NBAers - is there any chance of that happenning in the near future?

Making the playoff would be nice, though - and winning a series.

 

Wrong, this is a community with a forum. The community is made up of people with affection for the Rockets. Atleast that's how it used to be.........

Lately it just seems to me that the board has be derailed to be just another message board with bashing and arguing instead of a place where "Rocket" fans congregate.

If this was such a non-issue we wouldn't have everyone arguing over it now would we? And come on, you have to stop telling people to not let their emotions get in the way when you yourself clearly can't do it either. Maybe you should pray to Yao about that.

You seriously think that if yao said he wanted jvg or franchise gone that Dawsone would let them go? You have now posted the dumbest thing I have ever read on any message board. Wake up man! You think yao would have the balls to complain about the team leader or it's coach. Read the newspapers, they are practically begging yao to be more vocal and ask for the ball more. Does that sound like the characteristic of a team leader? Honestly, if yao complained about either one of them he would be sitting. The sad thing is, Yao is gonna be solid one day. Idiots like you keep pushing the envelope that he's already great. He's not! You can't form a decent argument that it's yao's team. As far as nationality goes, no one can argue that the only reason yao started the allstar game was because of the china vote. it's common knowledge. He probably deserved to be an allstar, but he isn't close to as good as Shaq at this point. Bottom Line, it's steve team and will be until he's off it. We should all hope that soon, yao will become dominant and he and steve can run the show together.
