A Truce between Yao-only and Steve-only fans... please?

the reason i and other rockets/yao's fans have been critical of francis because we see the rockets CAN play much better than what they did last year. francis is the leader of the team and the point guard who handles the ball 80% of the time. in order for the rockets to reach their potential, he has to play smarter. when the team is in half-court offense, he should pass the ball more. last year, we saw too much of francis giving us a dribbling exhibit.

My favourite player on the rockets is Yao Ming. I follow the Rockets hoping to see the glory days once again. There are some fans that watch the games only to see Yao Ming play, these are the Yao Ming Only Fans. There are some fans that watch the games only to see Steve Francis play, these are the Francis only fans. There are some followers that are not interested in the future of the Rockets as a Team, they are not Fans, they tear and curse at Yao Ming or Francis to vent their warpt minds. Fans should be weary of these followers , a few are on the Clutch BBS. Many good fans criticise players because they want and demand improvement in the Team play of the Rockets,especially when they know that the player can do much better. For example I am on Steve Francis all the time because I have seen Steve Francis perform all the great Assists and passing when he plays in the All Star Game. I just want him to stop trying to be the Big Cheese and be the Best Point Guard in the NBA. If he does, then the Rockets will play great Team Basketball. Plus all the other players will need to change or adapt to the idea that there is no 'I' in Team Basketball. Remember Team Basketball wins Championships.

Im normally much faster with the ignore than most here, so I figgured that anyone I dont have on ignore isnt real likely to be on other's.

 

Some rockets funs are Yao-only as well. They diss Yao's play for Chinese NT. They don't want Yao to play Chinese NT the same way some people don't want Yao to play for Rockets.
Anyway I don't have problems with Yao-only fans, I just don't like Francis-haters.

 

Let me write a poem:

Yao-only fans,
Steve-only fans,
as long as they are reasonable fans,
as long as they are rockets fans,
we are all good friends.

you have two fantastic players, you have YAO for all of us who love to see big man basketball and you have Stevie Franchise for all of us who love to see up tempo basketball!

don't hate on them! I'm a celtics fan(and a rockets fan because of Yao) and if you think franchise is bad...try watching antoine walker for 5 years...argh!

Seems to me that a lot people are put off by YAO because of all the attention he gets! Why the sour grapes!? he is a rocket! and so is Stevie franchise! they are a team and when they are on, I can't imagine a better team to follow in the nba!

once the team gets healthy and gets Van Gundy's system..watch out!

There really arent a lot of people that are resentful of Yao.
What you see here is the longtime Rockets fans/posters that are sick and tired of the posters that constantly harp on Yao and how he shoudl be the allmighty Lord and undisputed King of the team.

They coudl care less for any of the members of the team except in how they can help Yao become the ruler of the NBA.

It gets tiresome after a while...and that is what you are seeing.

I can count the number of posters who dont like Yao at all on one hand...everyone else is thrilled he is a Rocket (except for those thatwich he was on another team since the Rockets arent right for King Yao)

btw, for the record...I was for getting him in the first place, and am thriled to have him. but I am not afraid to point out what aspects of his game he needs work on, just like any of the other players.

 

Yao Ming is my favorite player in the NBA, but ONLY because he is on the Rockets.

But I have always and always will hate Yao-only fans. I don't like hearing their opinions, I really don't want to hear anything they have to say about the Rockets. They should go to a Yao Ming message board and talk there about how Yao isn't getting his touches in a 30 point win.

And some people need to realize, that if everyone suddenly wants to give Yao the title of "The Man" on the team, then whether he plays well or not, he needs to shoulder some of the blame for any loss we talk. Not all of it, but some. A team's leader is supposed to find a way to get the team the W, whether he has good stats or not.

 

I'm currently finding myself in the unpleasant position of often siding with the Yao-only fans, a class of fans that annoys me.

I've rooted for the Rockets since 1984. I want other people to love the team as much as I do. But at the same time, I think they're right when they say that A. Yao is the best player on the team and B. that his role is not as great as it should be, given his efficiency.

That compels me to side with a lot of fans I don't like, against fans I do. Sort of sucks.

 

I don't give a damn about Yao-only fan & Steve-only fans' feud.

Instead of wasting time discussing and finding a truce between these two, how come we can't do something more useful. Like fixing the problems the Rockets have by talking contructively.

Unless the Rox are going to play unselfish teamball, and win like a team, we'll have feud between Yao only fan & steve-only fan.

(Recently I watched Rox vs. Spurs on ESPN, the guards look so selfish, everyone is taking his own shot instead of trying to find the best shot. No matter how much talent we have, we can't get to the playoff playing like that.)
