I'd probably toss into the ring some of the cities in Orange County, CA. Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, that area. Awesome weather and nice places
This is a *real* video about Houston. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s056tSc0zz8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s056tSc0zz8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Loved it. With nearly a week left in this city before I head off to college, I'm feeling really nostalgic. Growing up in Clear Lake, I remember the MANY field trips to NASA, and growing up and going to most of the places in the video makes me really sad about leaving. Houston is quite honestly a great city, but it depends on what you make of it. PS - Does anyone know where they have horse-drawn carriages in Houston? I know they have some that are right in front of the Aquarium, but are there others? And how much do those things even cost for a ride?
New York is a bit overrated. I know its great city, but I have no desire to spend more time there. California to me is the new France. A beautiful land filled with a bunch of douchebags. Good looking douchebags, but douchebags nonetheless. Also San Diego is really crowded and the design f the roads don't help. I hate driving around here most of the day. Houston is not perfect, but perfect for me. I still love home and know the people I work with from there do too. I honestly haven't met many that don't represent the city when they're away.
when i think "greatest" i'm not talking about natural beauty and recreational opportunities, although you have to add that to your consideration. i mean that the denizens, the energy, vibe and possibilties of a city make it great. clearly new york is and always will be a magnet for people from all over the planet because it just kicks so much ass. i can really understand that it isn't for the faint of heart, it's a tough town. however, it offers profound rewards for those who embrace it.
The "greatest" city is the one that makes you happy to live in it...for whatever reason. That will differ depending on the individual. There's no right or wrong to it.
LOL you're right. Born in 83..moved to Houston in early 91, so it wasn't all that back then. It is a bit overrated but still a cool place to visit nonetheless. I've visited a couple of times since I moved here. Malls are amazing of course and the food is really good. You can also find these layered fresh fruit drinks that are great. We went on this touristy thing where we rode camels and then later went sand duning. Sand duning is a lot of fun. The clubs are in the baller hotels and are very nice, but the nightlife seemed whatever to me. I'm sure indoor skiing would be fun and the Atlantis Resort & Themepark also seems like a interesting place to visit.
Obviously, none of you have been to Liepaja! Seriously though, out of all the cities I've been to, Dublin is the greatest - awesome weather, awesome people (well, the non-Eastern Europeans, obviously), nice scenery, good living conditions. Hope to return there someday.
Awesome weather? Guess that depends on your idea of weather. It is a great place though. The women themselves aren't the most gorgeous I've seen (Spain, Munich, etc) but they are good looking and fun. Plus they're accent puts them near the top for me. Been twice for St Paddy's, definitely recommend it.
To me anything over 70 °F is too hot and I love rain. That should explain why I find Dublin's weather awesome. As for the rest, agreed.
that was, indeed, a great video. does anyone know where the waterfalls in the video (around 6:00) are? that looks like a nice place to visit.
