Regardless of this thread, the unfortunate thing is that the Rox ONLY trading chip is Yao. No one else on this team is worth anything more than an MLE.

I think landry, scola, brooks, battier, Bjax, and maybe even rafer can be traded. I think the good thing is we don't have bad contracts. I think I would take rose over beasley. I think rose could be the next wade or deron. He is a beast.

The Bulls were an aberration. Not only did they have Jordan and Pippen but they also had Dennis Rodman, and his insane rebounding and defense overcame a lot of the deficiencies the Bulls might have had in the center position.

So you argument boils down to one out of the last ten teams lacking a dominant big man, with special considerations applying to that team. One in ten doesn't sound like good odds to me, and you still want to trade away Yao?

As for Yao being equivilent to a top 5 pick, what planet are you living on? This is the first year that he's had an injury that could be related to overuse--the previous years were freak accidents. It's way too early to come to any conclusions just yet as to how Yao's size is going to come into play with regards to his longevity.

How could people still think we are better without Yao!!??

The games vs. Atlanta, Charlotte, Lakers, Boston, and New Orleans ALL had stretches where the Rockets couldn't make a shot to save their lives.

In Atlanta, we got lucky because the Hawks shot worse than we did, and they aren't a great team.

Charlotte, we got lucky because they didn't build on the lead, and kept the game within striking distance for us.

The Lakers game, Rafer had to save us with 8 3's...That aint gonna happen very often...

But vs. Boston and New Orleans, you see what happens. Good teams will capitalize on terrible perimeter shooting, and they will force somebody other than Tmac to beat them.

That would be SOLVED if Yao is in the middle. Just dump it into him, and he'll either get you a field goal, a 2 free throws, or an and 1, or at the very least a high percentage shot instead of jacking up 12 3's in a row. Yao makes the game easier for us.

I'm not saying he doesn't struggle guarding the pick and roll, or Boozer or Harrington, or any other quick big guy...but he is a nightmare matchup for the other team, and he scores easily.

Why on earth would you trade Yao for Marion and an unproven draft pick?? We'll just jack up more 3's when we need a post presence, and we will lose many more games that way, because right now we are shooting much better than anybody thought we could.

People will see Yao's importance in the Playoffs when we need a basket, and the easy option isn't there. Try recalling any team that won without a post presence (Even Jordan could score or pass out of the post)...You won't find any.

all those games you mentioned were also without carl landry. we haven't had difficulty scoring the 2 nights landry has been back. it's tough playing hayes and deke a lot of minutes and expect consistent offense. playing 3 on 5 will make you miss any post player.

we did miss yao on the defensive end last night to match up with shaq. other than that, carl landry's presence will solve a lot of issues on the offensive end.

i think you and many others are over-valuing landry a little bit. what did he do last night?

landry isn't even a first rounder rookie. he's good, and better than what many of us had expected. the guy hustles, and has an excellent finishing ability around the rim. but he doesn't quite create his own shot (so far) and is average on defense at his position. not a good combination for a pf, especially in the west, if you ask me. he'd significantly up his game (not saying he can't) to be considered a guy worth beyond a full mle, imo.

I do have to say a top 5 pick in this draft shouldn't be laughed at...and that even though Marion+2008 Miami 1st is kinda a joke for Yao, it still is a pretty damn good package.

But WTH is up with people assuming prospects all pan out? Calling Rose the next CP3 is just ridicolous...like, "Rose is instant gold!". They aren't even similar as players either, they just share the same position, you'd be better off saying the next Dwayne Wade, although I doubt Rose will ever reach the level of both of those players.

It is funny that we have arguably the best center in the league and we wanted to trade him for Marion and an unknown and unproven player in the draft ,while Phoenix Suns spend 20 millions for an old and injury ridden center in Shaq. The Suns management must know nothing about basketball especially the playoffs. It's a shame that they did't hire some of our knowleagable fans here to run their team. But wait a minute,we got killed in the paint yesterday by the Suns and if i recalled correctly, which i'm sure i did, our life saver Carl Landry was playing in that game

That old injury player has like 4 rings! The Suns had to do it since Marion needed more touches and he's going to get plenty in Miami :D

Carl Landry just came back from injury. That guy is going to be stud and an all star for sure.

i never said we should make this trade. we should at least LOOK AT IT if it's offered (which i think both sides would disagree to, houston would not make this trade as much as miami would not either). yao has been injured for 2 yrs in a row now missing an extensive amount of time.

i still want to see this team with tmac and yao b/c it appears we have a good supporting cast now. but if both of these guys get injured again NEXT YEAR, it's time to let them go.

also for the defense, we were playing 4 games in 5 nights, 5 in 7. we were so slow that we would reach on everything. our defense would never be that bad. trust me on that, with or without yao.

that's why he's still a rookie. what did dwight howard do in his first yr? same thing landry is doing except on more minutes. what did amare do? same thing as landry except on more minutes.

landry shows that he has a legit mid-range jumper (which is more than what amare showed in his rookie year). if he works on that, he has an outside game a lil bit. he has 2-3 years to improve on his back to the basket game along w/ some ballhandling. he has the ability and potential.

Actually, a team consisting of 10 Shawn Marions would be the strongest, deepest team in the league.

Eh...I'd rather have a team of 10 Lebrons.

I'd rather have a team of 9 Yaos and one Allen Iverson.

    ...How funny would that be?
