Believe it or not one of the keys to the Rockets may be MoT and Cuttino.-

Because if something does happen to Yao or Steve (like even a nagging injury that they have to play with) then one of these two will have to probably pick up the offense.

If the Rockets stay healthy they will make the playoffs and be a tough match in the first round (I believe because of Van Gundy they will be extra tough in the playoffs)

If Steve or Yao go down it will be very close for them to make it.(depends on players mentioned above)

If Steve or Yao have a big injury- Rockets are cooked.

Agreed. Steve and Yao are the primary scorers on the team with Cat as secondary. If both Steve and Yao go down I don't think Cat and MoT will be able to make up for the scoring. Cat can handle a large load of it, but I'm not too sure how much of it MoT can carry, hopefully a goodly portion of it too.

So the great Fortson goes to the bench last night and Dirk had to play center and Finley play forward. They won and that is all the matters but you have to ask what if Van Exel and J Rich had played for the Warriors. After two games one has to wonder about the mavs inside game.

I can't read all this crap without asking just one question:

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THAT A TEAM WENT FROM BEING A LOTTO TEAM (NEVERMIND 4 YEARS OF LOTTO) TO A TOP 4 TEAM IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE (OR THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FOR THAT MATTER?).

This debate is borderline insane. I'll take my 50 wins, low playoff seed and first round noisy exit, thank you very much.

You should remember that because they have the rockets, in part, to thank for the gigantic leap.

I really think the Mavs have made a step backwards, they have improved talent wise at the offensive end and weakened on the defensive end. They are no longer a team but just a bunch of hired guns. Cuban will have some great trading chips for the off season next year but I think this team will implode. The big three have to be getting tired of having to make adjustments to all the new saviors every season. This team is going to have trouble with any team that has a post presence like all of the top teams in the west do.

The Spers have dropped off too. The players they lost are not as tallented as the ones they gained but they fit the Spers game plan much better. The guys the spers lost were shooters the guys they gained are not. Teams are going to fall in on Tim and when he passes out who is going to shoot it. Every player surounding him now wants to drive to the hoop to score and the defense is aleady there. Oh and Rasho is not the Admiral.

Don't get me wrong the Mavs and Spurs will win a lot of games but I don't think they are guaranteed top 4 anymore.
