Does anyone remember the game in Mobley's rookie year where he didn't take the shot? Barkley yelled at him coming back on defense telling Cat to shoot when he drew the double team.

I could be dreaming or Barkley is just really persuasive.

how many game winners has jordan missed? kobe? shaq? t-mac? zeke? magic? they all missed game winners w/people open. that's part of the package.

you completely miss the point, ZRB.

why was steve deferring in the first place? why would a true hog let a piglet eat first?!!!

"...we don't need any more muslims!..."

The fact that you had to bring a religion in to make your point, saddens me.

Should I be offended by this thread? ;)

Steve does not need to be a ball hog. Sure he should take more shots, but he can still be the man without taking all the last shots. I think he will take his fare share this year. Mobley I think is better one on one and can beat his man to the whole more effectively anyways.

That GS game was lucky. Mobley had basically wasted the entire time and Moochie made that lucky shot for the win. Mobes should get no credit for that last shot.

the fact that you are so sensitive that you have gone dull to the fact that parodies and paradoxes can be used to make points without intending to offend people saddens me even more.

has PC gone this far? this isn't about religion WW. this is about hoggishness. we need a hog.

    would jewish make it better?

i can't even say "lighten up." more like "wise up." none but words, Wizzy. none but words.

it is intention, not preconception, which truly defines a word.

This is some funny ****.....you need to start more threads more often:D

I think Wink's assertiveness to take the Big Shot will grow when his offense does. He needs to develop a go-to move first that he can rely on to get him a score or a foul every time.

Umm, I was at the Jazz game, and Steve was not wide open in the final minute. In fact, if you want to blame someone, blame Shandon for missing a wide open shot a possession earlier.

And what Laker game are you talking about? In all four of the Laker games last season, none came down to the final 15 seconds. In the game we won, we won by 10. In the game we lost at home and the two in LA, we lost by a good margin.

as soon as steve francis has a 45 point, 4 assist game, i will know that he has strapped on his pig feet, squishy nose, and curly tail.

    20, 10 & 8 are cool

    but

    sometimes you need 38, 4, & 3.

steve hasn't shown the ability to decipher the two situations, as of yet.

    cat has.

if we are to make it, steve must join the cat in the slop pit!

More times than not, teams are not going to let the other teams best player beat them. What if Jordan would have forced shots against Utah and Phoenix, would they have won the game? As many games as Jordan has won, sometimes he passed up a shot to get a teammate a better one. As great as Hakeem was in his prime, against the Sonics in the 93 playoffs, he passed up shots in regulation and overtime because he was double and triple teamed. How many times did Maxwell win games for us? Thats why its called a team and there will times when Steve has a chance to win ballgames in the end. Does anyone remember when Francis dismantled Vancuver a couple of yrs ago late in the game? He'll have his chances, but if a guy is open and Francis has the ball, he should give it up.

What Mobes rarely gets credit for is all his shots in the last minute. In the GS game, he takes the lead with 29 seconds after Francis dribbled the ball off his foot in the previous possession. He overran the shot clock trying to follow orders to leave none on the clock, and some want to have his head--completely forgetting the previous play.

Another one, how about Mobes for the a 3-pointer for the tie in the 1st overtime versus Indiana. That was not lucky. That was a designed play for Francis to toss him the ball coming around a pick...coming away from the basket. Turn and fire....swish!!!

Face it everyone. Mobes is a master of the final 2 minutes. Can we celebrate it this year, and not yell anytime someone other than Francis fails. In the last 2 minutes, Mobley gets a designed shot off without worrying about failure. He doesn't fall, dribble off his foot, or pass to Shandn :D.

"why was steve deferring in the first place?"

He wasn't deferring. He never even got the ball. He had a great look at the basket, and was begging Cuttino to pass him the ball. Cuttino ignored him, and proceeded to heave up an airball. After the Jazz drilled two free throws to increase the lead to five, Steve finally got the ball, and drilled a three. By then it was too late. Remember Clutch's thread, "Nice Heave Cuttino."? Look it up, and you'll get a pretty good recap of what ocurred.

As for the Laker game, the Rockets were down by five with fifteen seconds to go. Instead of even trying to get a good shot off, Cuttino heaved up an airball from five feet behind the arc. That was after he had been fooled by a basic crossover move from Bryant. Cuttino gave up 45 points to Bryant on 20-25 shooting that night. Not only did Cuttino take a bad shot, his defense was beyond atrocious.

    Ah yes, here it is.

    I like this part:

    Francis -- who else.

Francis took a swing feed from behind the three-point line and as they had been doing all night, he started to pass out to the baseline but held up. The Hawks' defense bit on the fake and Francis pulled up from three.....

BINGO! 100-98 Rockets with 25 seconds left.

Umm, ZRB... you really need to watch some tape of the games. I was at that game too, and Kobe Bryant was literally on fire. There were men in his face. There was a hand near him at all times. He made extremely difficult shots all game long, and started the game 10 for 10. Cuttino's defense was perfectly fine, but there's nothing any perimeter defender in the league can do when Kobe is on like he was that night.

By the way, ZRB, don't bother me showing me game recaps... I like Clutch, but you and others should know that he is way too hard on Cuttino at times. Want some evidence? Look at the quote on the front page right now. Out of all the quotable material in Freak's thread, why do you think that is on the front page? Get me some AP recap's discussing Cuttino's "mistakes", and then we can talk.

It amazes me that we have a backcourt that is as good as it is, everybody around the league fears and respects it, the team gets along, and is successful, and Mobes and Francis get along like brothers, yet people treat Mobley like the b*stard child and downplay his importance. You build teams around Francis and Isiah Thomas, you win with Dumars and Mobley. It's called a 1-2 punch, and not only do you have to have a 2nd scorer, but you have to have a certain chemistry between the two. We have an awesome backcourt, but sometimes I wonder if there aren't people that wouldn't celebrate if Mobley had signed with another team last year or were traded to another team.

Francis play over the preseason was good enough to merit a hog status.

Even if he misses some of the shots, we have an army of rebounders for the put back.

I guess that's when the piglets feed, I guess.
