The world stopped moving whenever Starks pulled up for that shot.

Hakeem, thankfully, did not stop moving.

He is the definition of heart & defense.

well, Robinson got a Q-double too. He was
damn good before injury. Great player though
    not on par with Hakeem.

I like the miracle-drug theory. Yeah, I'll have whatever Dream was having those 2 years to turn a "well, a good player" into the best player in the NBA.

Or was it all just a matter of luck? Yeah, Dream was lucky those 2 years, that's why we won 2 championships. OR, maybe it's a combination of the two. Contrary to beliefs that Dream actually went through periods of fasting during the regular season, he was actually on a strict diet of Lucky Charms. It's too bad he changed nutritionists in '96, though, otherwise we would have won another championship.

I'm sure its getting old but read Whott's arguements from this thread

Or just read his quotes in my reply...

    Whott? you're kidding me
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whott, since you feel the need to swear, kick and scream about your point I guess you got my attention and I'll respond. I have a question though, why is it the only numbers you use is in the years. At least from what I've seen you never make a statement that can be verified. Most of you statements are pretty subjective, but somehow I'm an idiot?

RocketFans...stop quoting me and then giving a stupid comment or counter question because you don't understand my clearly stated points.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start stating your point more clearly and I won't question it.

I feel I have already demonstrated a better knowledge of your AS's and season records, as well as Hakeem's injuries, than you have. What point are you trying to make with bull**** posts like that?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you feel better now that you feel that way. I'm sure you did. No wait a minute.. I'm not sure how. All you did was make a ludicrous statement about Elie somhow saving Hakeem's career. With out Mario Elie Hakeem would have been known as a choker? Oh ok that's how the Rockets won 2 rings.. Mario Elie's brand of toughness?

As for the stupid post claiming Vernon Maxwell was the HOF 2 Guard I was referring too...I clearly said the 94 season...

You idiots don't understand that the year in which the season begins is always the designated season.

EG: David Robinson's first year was 1989, he made the playoffs his first year, they were held in 1990.

Do you say that David began his career in 1990? No idiot you do not, you say it began in the 1989.

ERGO>>>When I say the Rockets had a HOF 2 guard in 94 I am referring to the 94-95 season. If I am talking playoffs I will designate it as such.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You clearly said the 94 season, and that is clearly the year BEFORE Drexler got there.

Ok so let me get this straight.. when you say they won the 94 championship you are talking about the Clyde Drexler... so we won a championship in the 93 and 94 years then? OK I DON'T USUALLY TYPE IN BOLD CHARACTERS OR CAPS BUT YOU'RE THE IDIOT.... ACCORDING TO NBA.COM HAKEEM WAS : "A member of the Houston Rockets' 1994 and 1995 back-to-back NBA champion teams, earning Finals MVP honors both seasons, and also" and Drexler was with us for the 2nd or 95 championship.

If you're going to make a name for yourself by pointing out how stupid people are.. don't get into an argument and insist you're right when you are just WRONG....

Here's a fact for you Houston and your great champion...your football teams, your basketball teams, your college teams were chokers, your city was known was choke city. You produced great athletes but none of them did anything for your city. The only success you have had prior to Hakeem winning those NBA titles was a pretty good golf program. Other then that your city choked. I know because I watched a beloved longhorn named Earl Cambell be cursed by playing there.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're absolutely right, BUT THAT'S NOT THE ARGUMENT HERE. In fact I'm pretty sure that you're implied argument that since Houston has a history of "choker's" I'm not qualified to talk about basketball makes as much sense as me arguing that since San Antonio only has one major sports team you can't argue with anybody about pro sports. That's not your problem I assure you.

As far as Hakeem's post season success.. and Elie and Horry, Elie and Horry have both proven to be valuable ROLE players. Hakeem led a team to back to back Championships while Robinson was on a championship (and hopefully he gets another ring) team. There is a difference but it doesn't mean Robinson wasn't a great player. Malone and stockton never won a championship, but nobody debates their greatness (at least nobody with a brain).

I still don't understand why me saying that David was a great player isn't enough. Nor do I understand why you take it personally. I cam in here to debate it with intelligent fans but somehow got caught up with this debate with Whott.

Actually they are talking about the 2 wrong players...

They should be comparing Tim Duncan and Hakeem Olajuwon...

I could care less what they think about D-Rob being better than Dream... Its there fantasy and it doesn't bother me...(well for a second there it did:mad: )

Timmy and Dream are very much alike in there style of play... They both DOMINATED!!!;)

Wow! this is unbelievable. Hakeem is amongst the four top centers of all time. Robinson, above average I might add, would rank in the top ten. The tales of the tape do not lie. Olajuwan manhandle David. This post was useless. It is too lobsided to bargain with, better luck next time.

There is no comparing The Dream to the Rear Admiral. After Olajuwon raped pseudo MVP Robinson in the 95 Western Conference Finals, Robinson has NEVER been the same. Olajuwon made Mrs. Robinson look like a fool in that series, showing the "MVP" who the real man was in the NBA.

Olajuwon is in a whole separate class of centers that Robinson will never be in.

The Dream will be remembered as one of the greatest centers in NBA history, and can be argued as the greatest of all time. Robinson will only be remembered as a good center.

Oh, and heres something else on the Dream in case nobody has mentioned it yet.

The Dream is the only player in NBA history to win Defensive Player of the Year, Regular Season MVP and NBA Finals MVP in the same year (93-94 Season).

Rumor has it that the Rear Admiral Mrs Robinson contemplated changing his name to Mrs. Olajuwon after the 95 Conf. Finals. After all, he is The Dreams b****.

I dont have the time to read all the spur fan drivel posted on this thread. Living in San Marcos for 7 years I was surrounded by the idiot spur fans. My friends and I would travel to the Alamodome every time the Rockets visited. The most exciting of all visits was in December of 93' when the Rockets were 21-1 and beat the Spurs on a last second Vernon Maxwell running jumper. We were so loud and obnoxious that by the end of the game the entire section in front of us were turning around yelling and pointing at us whenever the spurs did something. Needless to say, the Rocket fans had the last laugh. Just as we have in every playoff series with the Spurs.

Spurs have no game. They are boring to watch. They have always been boring to watch, except for the Iceman, who had game, unlike the spur fans. I mean, just look at the typical Spur fan, you know 99% of them have never even bounced a basketball. That was proven when my Rocket friends and I entered and won b-ball tourneys in San Antonio every year. No game San Antonio, No game. Lucky that Webber got hurt, Lucky that Nowitski got hurt and they already have an asterisk championship. Add another one if they win it this year.

In short, Spurs... you got no game and you suck.

    CLUTCH CITY FOREVER
