*IF* the Rockets somehow get the #1,#2 or #3 pick in the Draft . . . .
do you think this changes things?

I think it would make Cleveland more interested.

I rather win a championship without arguably the best player in the NBA if he was not drafted by us. It means more to win a championship without having LBJ on our team.

Why? What's so interesting about the Thunder matching any offer that Durant receives as a RESTRICTED free agent, being fully willing to pay him the max?

Anyone on planet Earth who thinks that any team besides the Thunder has a chance in hell of getting Durant is deluding himself. There is a better chance of Lebron coming to the Rockets for the MLE than of Durant going ANYWHERE besides OKC. At least Lebron has some say in the matter. Durant does not (unless he risks tens of millions of dollars in order to play on a one-year deal with OKC in 2011-12 in order to become unrestricted in 2012, which is NOT going to happen).

I think, much like the first couple of years here with Tmac, there will be an adjustment period where the team has to figure out what pieces they need to fit around LeBron.

This would be the case anywhere as no team is perfectly constructed to add LeBron and be in the Finals next year.

The only recent case of that happening was when Boston added 2 All-stars in their primes just as Rondo became a top-5 PG.

Chicago is closest, but would still be starting scrubs at SG and PF.
Plus Rose and LeBron would have to adjust to eachother.

As such, the immediacy of winnning NOW would be conceded for a year or maybe 2 as the young players grow and complementary pieces are moved around.

This would set them up to be serious contenders just as the move, and new revenue stream, becomes reality.

One, the team does not play stellar defense. The team you are talking about had Battier and Artest playing significant minutes, and Yao at center. That is a much different team than Martin and Ariza.

Two, Yao has not been healthy every season now, what makes you think it's going to happen now?

Three, the Celtics, Lakers, Magic do not suck. Celtics and Lakers are the past two champions and their core is unchanged and the Magic have proved they are a team to be reckoned with.

Now the suns...who knows at this point.

I can imagine there are just a few people on this board that would actually NOT do that trade.

Lebron loves being center of attention. He'll get that in New York.

Think that's more important to him than being on a championship team?

The same laker team that had trouble with Durant and OKC? Did you watch that series? OKC got robbed in game 2, with Game 2 that series would have been theirs. The Celtics are anything but invincible. Heck, their record after the first 28 games of the season has been 25-25. Is that the mark of a champion? The only concession I will make to you is Orlando looks decent. But, to be fair Orlando has had their share of scrubs as opponents, and any team with size can take them.

Do you honestly believe that a team with Battier and Yao will not have good defensive presence? A 7' 6" center will have a bigger impact than some thug forward. Shane Battier will also look a heck of a lot sharper on both ends of the court with Yao picking up some of the slack.

Yao's injuries all stem from being overworked. After having a season's rest Yao will back and dominate. Yao has never had this much time off before, this will be big for him and his recovery.

I think Houston has a chance.

People is calling him loser. He wants to win.

NY? If he agrees a s&t with Cleveland, wanting to go to NY, it would be obviously next to an all-star. Bosh?? Amare?? That's another s&t, dude, NY can't do 2 s&t's for 2 max players. Plus the situation is not as easy as calling Bosh and tell him "let's go to the Big Apple". On sign & trades, the teams have something to say...

So I think if he leaves Cleveland, it would be to go to a team that has already an all-star and at the same time can give the Cavs some interesting assets on an hypothetical trade. Chicago? Miami? Rose/Wade + Lebron? Wouldn't they overlap? I think it would be preferable a team with an all-star inside... Orlando? Houston? New Jersey?

    - The Nets have interesting assets (the pick, Terrence Williams, Devin Harris...)
    - The Magic would have more problems to come to an agreement. Cleveland would not accept Carter's contract (nor Lewis'), so their assets are reduced to Marcin Gortat (MLE) or Jameer Nelson. Remember Cleveland has already a Varejao inside and a Mo Will and a Delonte West outside... I don't know
    - Houston could give them a Kevin Martin, a Luis Scola, a Battier, the Knicks picks... (in fact whatever they ask Morey except Yao -the reason why Bron chooses the Rockets as a possible option-), so I don't think we're positioned as bad as the forum thinks.

P.S.: Not a Lebron fan here.

    Forgive my English.

You should know better but should now get this into your head..
No star player is coming to the Rockets if Yao Ming is not on the Rockets
and able to be a major contributor. :p

youre almost as delusional as mavs fans (who think they have a shot at the championship year after year).

yao will never be healthy for a full season + playoffs. he will in all likelihood be injured again. you can 'wish for the best' all you want but do it to yourself, not on the boards; because then you just sound.... well, delusional.

Heck, your English is fine. It reads easier than some of the garbage repetitive threads certain gooofus' keep starting around here. :)
