Not even he could do that. No way LeTravel is in a Rockets jersey next season.

That won't happen. Houston probably isn't even on his radar screen.

A pickup team could "afford" LeBron - even if you're deep in the luxury tax the revenue he brings in covers the tab.

But it is fair to say that there are plenty of teams over the cap that have only D- trade assets.

The Lakers, if they (Kobe) wanted, could definitely pursue him. They could offer Bynum and Gasol if they felt like it, and take back a bad contract (via 2 deals) to boot. LeBron at 3 and Kobe at 2 would be terrifying, even with D-leaguers filling out the squad.

Lebron is more interested in fame then winning. It's between NY, Chicago, and Miami.

Lebron has shown loyalty since high school.
I'm not so sure he will leave Cleveland....unless the team he goes to ends up with some other big name players.

No ignorance - certainly teams can do a sign-and-trade. It's just nearly impossible to predict which teams would/could trade which players for LBJ. It'd have taken forever for me to even attempt to write up such an analysis.

No - my list is certainly not definite. It's speculative.

You're right - but my analysis was based only on current team rosters, and, as I said, any team trades or roster changes are impossible to account for.

Well, the Rockets season is over. The GARM starts winding down this time of year. I seldom post in the GARM anyway. Just kinda felt like it.

I completely disagree with this. The Cavs didn't win the Eastern conference finals last year, and didn't make it past the semi-finals this year. That alone is proof that hvaing LBJ on your team isn't enough to get to the finals. Teams need more.

Next season they won't have Shaq. IMHO, If they couldn't win it last season or this season, I don't see how they're gonna win it next season.

I gotta admit, I'm kinda feeling a Chicago vibe as well.

I'd disagree with you about Kobe - LA would NOT get rid of him for LeBron. I don't see LBJ going to NY or NJ - I get the impression he doesn't want to go to a restructuring team. Been there, done that, with the Cavs.

Disagree. Lakers have won a championship already with Bynum and Gasol and are poised to win another one this season. I don't see them taking the risk of trading that way.

And... I have to say... thanks, everyone for keeping this discussion civil (so far)!

Brandon Roy isn't a free agent. He signed a 5 year extension with the Blazers at the beginning of the year.

If he even looked in our direction, everybody on our roster is trade bait. Send Yao, AB, KM and even DM (okay maybe not DM)

    1. I don't think Lebron will come to the West, because the Eastern Conference is still an easy pass to the finals in comparison to the Western. So that rules out OKC, Portland, Houston, Utah
    2. I don't think he will go to Miami with DWade, because Wade has already won a championship, and even they win championship together, Lebron will be forever underneath Wade, thats definitely not someone named King wants.
    3. Milwaukee is too small a market Lebron just will never ever go there...

That leaves Chicago and NY, and you can't rule out NJ because they just got a crazy Russian owner who may turn the team around really fast like Chelsae.

If LeBron want instant Championship and is a smart person....then he should choose the Rockets. There is NO MAN in the world that can do anything inside when Yao is guarding the paint. Houston seem to be the ONLY team that can dominate the Lakers' bigs!! Why would you go to Chicago...ok they have Noah but that's just not good enough to dethrone the Lakers. Go to Miami...who they got to guard the Lakers' bigs?? None! NY KNICKS?? None. Yao is the ONLY dominate BIG in this league. No it's not Howard...dude is nothing standing next to Yao...and can't do a damm thing when Yao is playing him one on one.

I am telling you man....if Lebron is smart and want easy Championship...Houston is a no-brainer.

I guess in your book "dominate" means missing the postseason due to injury every year

Chicago has a draft pick, Noah AND Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose by himself is 2x better than Yao Ming now.

I just don't see why people say NJ has lots of talent for the future. Honestly, Lopez is the only guy who has significant room for growth. All the other guys are basically who they are - and that's nearly the worst team to ever play in the NBA. You can maybe say CDR or Terrance Williams will get marginally better but still, the fact is they sucked this year with all those young guys so how good could they really get? The game changer for NJ in the draft( plays the same positions as their 2nd best player so that's odd...and why would Lebron join a team with a new majority owner who has had little experience with running American sports franchises and only a dubious reputation as an extravagant billionaire that proceeds him. I just am not buying the "Jay Z is more powerful than Lebron's hometown pull+the Nets suck+ there is so much uncertainty around their future" argument.

I think Houston has a case albeit a small one. If Lebron really is all about winning, focus, and playing hard - than Houston has a roster full of guys who would fight to the death every year with him....plus they have a top 3 GM in the league and have the best pieces to help Cleveland rebuild while still keeping the roster competitive here. If Lebron really is about the love of the game, than Houston is a good place to go....if he is worried about endorsements, legacy, etc - than New York is his place....really their negotiating points are completely difference from Houston's.

....that being said, I tend to think he stays in Cleveland and forces Ferry and Brown out of town. Brown has been exposed in the playoffs time and time again as a poor game coach - nuff said. Ferry really hasn't made anything but short sighted decisions since he joined and each year they get other team's castaways. Chicago is a possibility but I'm not as sold as sports writers are that they have the talent there and certainly their front office is a mess. Joakim is a bit overrated and frankly so is Rose. He's good, but his "good" makes him - what the 5th or 6th best PG in the league(Paul, Williams, Nash, Rondo, Wall?, Evans?, etc).

....do you think he would really stay in the East and torture his hometown 4 times a year? I would think that would be cruel. I think he has incentive if he is going to leave, to head West. The west is aging anyway. The Spurs, Suns, and Lakers all have key players who will likely decline in the next year or two. Utah is potentially losing it's 2nd best player this summer, Denver is a chemistry mess AND has an aging Chauncey, and Portland has a pretty extensive injury history already as a "young" team.

...in the East, Boston is likely making their last stand and after that you have a youngish Orlando team, upcoming teams in the Bulls, Bucks, and Bobcats, and maybe the Hawks will figure it out too.

Lebron James want to make himself a brand more then anything. He idolizes JayZ(rap,clothing,recording,etc...) and wants to hit New York for broader appeal. I will bet anyone every last cent I have that he bolts for the Nets. He played his last game in a Cavs jersey and no Houston don't have a shot at him.

You're kidding right? Alot of big names already live here. The weather is great and the team is going places very soon. Why wouldn't he want to come here? He can actually piggyback to championship here as well.
