i don't know that he and i would be close friends....but the guy was a helluva player, all the way around.
Agreed, he, Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa made baseball fun to watch again with their ongoing battles. Baseball has been great this year, maybe because I'm a diehard Yankees fan but overall, a lot of memorable things happened this year.
i'll admit, not a fan of barry. but has barry really done anything for fans outside of san fran to like him? i'd argue he put himself in that position. and barry was a hell of a player, no question about it. even with the pirates, a 30/30 guy
Barry should get into in the Hall because his head grew from size 7 1/8 to 7 3/4 and his feet grew from size 10 1/2 to size 13 in his mid-to-late thirties.
Steroids could be helping. You need steroids to build muscle, but he has those now. Not to mention any of them could still be using other PEDs. Doesn't really matter though. A-Rod has been a top 3 player over the last decade, and that is against a bunch of other steroid users.
Add to the fact of the matter that he had surgery this year. As a Yankee fan I can say he's worth every cent, same can be said for Big Tex and CC.
It isn't your money. Of course it was worth it to you. Probably worth it to them to, but only because money seems to be no object.
Got me there. A lot of people don't know this but part of the reason the Yanks have money to blow is that they do not only have a joint ventures with the Cowboys but also with the English Soccer team Manchester United.
In 2008, the Yankees announced a joint venture with the Dallas Cowboys that would form the basis for a partnership in running food and beverage, and other catering services to both teams' stadiums. Hey it's something.
steroids = higher bad speed there was a story on ESPN about a pitcher who stated that the only reason he was in the majors was because of steroids who knows how young a rod was when he started juicing up. he may have made it to the majors either way but I firmly believe that he wouldn't have been offered the monstrous deals he received without steroids
Yes!!! Exactly, he is too talented. He would be great without steroids as well. I see him coming through in the playoffs this year as well!
Still, you gotta be able to PUT the bat on the ball. He has tremendous fielding, a great arm, and much more. A true 5 tool player. Don't hate on the guys talent.
That's a pretty bold statement considering that he is choked countless times in the playoffs. Has he ever played well in the playoffs? Yes just like Mcgwire, Sosa, Bonds put the bat on the ball. Doesn't mean that he didn't cheat. Steroids made a scrub hitter like David Ortiz a legend. Stop trying to discount the effects of PED's. I'm certain that A Rod has used HGH numerous times as well.
First of all the number of players hitting a hard-to-get milestone per given era or decade varies quite a bit. Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Ernie Banks, and Frank Robinson were the same era hitters who broke 500. And then there was a bit of a lull. The next big wave of HR hitters were Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Rafael Palmeiro. If any of this last set broke 500 HR for a career without PED, they are Hall worthy. That is a really big IF though. Ken Griffey appears to be the only clean one in the bunch.
So it's OK that he did steroids and lied about it because he was already one of the best and if he didn't do steroids, cheat and lie about it, he would have still been great? LOL. Poor Pete Rose.
First of all, you know nothing about baseball. Second of all, he is a career .280 career average in the post season with over 7 home runs. He has only had 2 bad series against tough pitching. Again, your probably jealous because you will never get the looks A Rod has, or you are just a plain hater, or maybe just BOTH.
Yes you hit the nail on the head. I'm jealous of his looks. He has 1 RBI in his last 3 postseason appearances. We'll see how he does in the playoffs. Btw, I hope that you're a chick..no offense of course
