My money is on A-Rod going to the Cubs, he can play SS again, Lou manages there, the NL Central is weak. Chicago has the money to payup and it's a big money market city.

With A-Rod in that lineup, they win the division every year.

between this and now announcing girardi as the new manager, the yankees are sure trying to take away ALL of boston's publicity. it's worked too considering it's been all yankees on sportscenter for the last hour.

those clowns on the east coast.

Thats funny but at what point is any player worth 1,5,10,15,20,25 million a year worth? And is that only this year or in 30 years will 30 mil/ year be ok?

Yeah, they said that - but they've also got the Steinbrenner sons running things now. Plausible enough reason for a change of philosophy.

Besides, there's no way they're going to be daft enough to follow through on that.

Also Remember that Tiger Woods made 100+ Million this year from GOLF!!!!
Obviously 70%-80% is from endorsements but he still made 100+ Million in ONE year.

I think A-rod is worth 30/Year because he might turn out to be the best player that ever lived. Might being the key word. Will we see another A-rod performance from someone else? Maybe but are you willing to wait another 100 years? Also remember that Teams who will sign A-rod for that much will get plenty of it back...

In his three years with the yankees, ARod has 1 total RBI in the post season. Yes, one.

I am talking about in context of team sports where you can only spend a 100mil or so. Tying up such a large percentage of salary to 1 player when you are not the yankees is dumb.

    Pued,

I agree with you but the Steinbrenner sons do not. One of them (couldn't remember if it was Hal or Hank) pretty much made the comment that Rodriguez "never wanted to be a Yankee" and that "they were through with him". So, unless they are incredible actors/liars, I don't see ARod going back to the Yankees.

With that being said, I really don't want to see him in a Red Sox uniform; however, Larry Lucchino has had a hard-on for him for years. And I would guess that he would feel it would be a great way to screw Steinbrenner and the Yanks.

I hope he signs with the Cubs or the Angels and that the Sox re-sign Mike Lowell.

Am a little surprised, but that's his agent for you...I doubt he'll get the $30MM a year is looking for...That is just crazy money...Just as crazy as the contract he just opted out of...

I'm very happy for Joe Girardi!

And don't let the door hit you in the rear A-Rod!

Yeah, why would you want the best offensive player in the league on your team?!?!?!

And remember two numbers...7 and 12.

Of course not. Neither do any other Yankees fans or New York sportswriters.
