I know, which is why I suspect gwayneco has been banned. Joshaaronb, can you take his coveted role in the D&D? Can we depend on you to fill gwayneco's shoes? Godspeed!
I have very very little understanding of Islam. As I am sure that you do as well. Why would you read that and assume to be able to immediately comprehend and know exactly what it means, the way that people should act, and how to carry out those select but isolated pieces of the Koran? There have been people on this board who might post something like that and ask what it means to Muslims, and how they see certain pssages. They didn't assume it meant something.(which in this case it doesn't mean what you believed it to mea.) They asked with a desire to understand. You believed you understood and then made a thread based on your (lack of) understanding. That is how divides grow deeper, and understandings are not reached.
i cant believe this thread is still here, to think people have started to post excerpts from the Koran defending the notion of how one religion is full of hate...pathetic it makes you wonder if "we" have really progressed as people as being more pluralistic/open minded to anothers beliefs... on that note cant we all just get along
So, Christians feel that psychics and anyone that curses their parents should be put to death, and anyone that sleeps with a woman during their period should be exiled, right? Dont be an idiot.
I bet one can't find anything related to killin' or hatin' in Buddhism. Where's Meowgi when we need him?
"If it had been the will of your Lord that all the people of the world should be believers, all the people of the earth would have believed! Would you then compel mankind against their will to believe?" The Holy Quran, 10:99 "(O Prophet) proclaim: 'This is the Truth from your Lord. Now let him who will, believe in it, and him who will, deny it.'" The Holy Quran, 18:29 "If they turn away from thee (O Muhammad) they should know that We have not sent you to be their keeper. Your only duty is to convey My message." The Holy Quran, 42:48 "Let there be no compulsion in religion." The Holy Quran, 2:256
From the story: "Afghanistan's constitution is based on Shariah law, which states that any Muslim who rejects their religion should be sentenced to death. "We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law," the judge said. "It is an attack on Islam. ... The prosecutor is asking for the death penalty." Has the Afghan government been lied to about what is in the Quran? Somebody explain this please. This is not a matter of opinion. This story is drawn from the facts of a case which are based on the law of Afghanistan.
cool..thanks! don't expect the questions to come fast and furious...i'm reading at a rather slow pace after putting 2 kids to bed every night!
Just a brief explanation here about what 'shari'ah' law is... Shari'ah refers to a set of laws created by society (i.e. man) according to its scholar's best interpretation of the Quran and Sunnah. Shari'ah is meant to change and be flexible enough to differ from one society to another, according to the varying interpretations of the tenets of Islam.
